Dear Garry,
Many thanks for the opportunity to quote for the supply of Approved energy ratings to the above
project.
Please see below our quotation for demonstrating compliance to Building Regulations (2013) Part L1A
and a summary of our works.
Compliance with Part L1A (Conservation of Fuel and Power in new domestic buildings) is now shown by
a carbon emission rating. In reality, this means that at the Design Stage of the project we set a
Target Emission Rate (TER) based on comparison with a notional building of the same shape and size
as your proposal. This notional building is set within BRE Approved SAP software.
Then we set your proposed design and specification and its Dwelling Emission Rate (DER) against this
target. If the emissions rate for your proposed design is less than the target, ie the DER is less than
the TER, you have complied.
If this DER is higher than the TER, then we will offer advice and design options that will reduce carbon
emissions sufficiently to achieve this target. Once this has been achieved, a submission can be made to
Building Control for early approval.
In addition, a further calculation will be needed at the end of the project to show that the 'As-Built'
dwelling still achieves the carbon emissions target. Only at this stage can we supply final proof of
compliance for Building Control consent.
EAS are an approved OCDEA (On Construction Domestic Energy Assessor) and as such Building Control
can accept our submissions without need for any further clarification giving you an assurance of
consent.
EAS are also accredited to issue the now mandatory Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) in
accordance with the requirements of the Building Regulations.

The setting of basic Target Emissions Rates (TER) from interpretation of plans
Establishing existing Dwelling Emission Ratings (DER) from your proposed specification
Preliminary assessment and comparison of DER to TER
Suggestions and consultation as to design amendments if needs be
Certification of compliance at Design Stage for Building Control submission
Supply of Predicted Energy Assessment (PEA)
Ongoing support and advice relating to Part L issues during the term of the project
Liaison and exchange of information with all relevant parties
Final calculation to show As-Built rating and compliance to Part L
Final certificate of compliance for Building Control submission
Supply of Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) for Building Control submission

Total cost: 300.00 + VAT

Once our work is completed at Design Stage, an invoice will be sent to you - please note that our
terms are payment in full before releasing any certification and proof of compliance.
