Hello, Veronica...
We've been swamped with back to school events and trainings here; not sure if this is in time for your deadline. Here's some info that may be
helpful... if you need something additional I can work on it Monday/Tuesday!

At the February 23, 2016 school board meeting, the MCAS Board revised close to 50 policies as part of a regular update advised by
NEOLA. NEOLA advises 1,000+ school districts in seven midwest states on school policy, to help ensure policies are up to date and
compliant with state and federal laws.
Part of that February revision was to modify the standard nondiscrimination and equal opportunity statement language this affected
7 policies. NEOLA advised districts to make this revision in response to a recent letter from the federal Office of Civil Rights re: non
discrimination based on transgender status, sexual orientation and gender identity as being protected under "sex" class.
The statement they approved now includes this...

The School Board does not discriminate on the basis of the Protected Classes of race, color, national origin, sex
including transgender status, sexual orientation and gender identity, disability, age, religion, military status, ancestry, or genetic
information which are classes protected by Federal and/or State law collectively, "Protected Classes" occurring in the Corporation's
employment opportunities, programs, and/or activities, or, if initially occurring off Corporation grounds or outside the Corporation's
employment opportunities, programs and activities, affecting the Corporation's environment.
Hope this helps!
