Classroom Procedures:
Respect yourself, other students, and the teacher. No one is allowed to interfere with another
students learning or sense of self-worth. Students are expected to follow all school and
classroom regulations.

No food will be allowed in the classroom. Our students have a wide variety of food allergies and
we will take no chances.

Cheating will not be tolerated in this class and severe consequences will follow.

Since you must have credit for four math courses, most students need this class to graduate. It is
only possible to pass this class if you complete every homework assignment every night. Do not allow
yourself to fall behind.

Tardies: I will follow school policy. If for any reason your entire body is not inside the classroom
when the bell rings, you will be marked as tardy.

The cell phone/electronics policy in my classroom is you can listen to music during homework
only. If you are texting, calling, or browsing without permission during class, it may be regarded
as against policy and your device will then be taken up and given to a principal where it can be
retrieved at a later time. This policy is subject to change at any time.

CONSEQUENCES:
Consequences are used for any disruptive or disrespectful behavior in class. You are old enough to know how
to behave.

1st offense:
2nd offense:
3rd offense:
4th offense:

Warning
Personal conference
Parent contact and 30 minute teacher detention
Administrative/Parent Conference

Note: I reserve the right to skip consequences for major offenses or repeat offenders. I also reserve the right to
make the punishment fit the crime.

Grading:
MAJOR: Unit Tests 40%

Mid-Unit Assessments 20%

MINOR: Homework 20% Warm-Ups/Quizzes 20%

*You will be assigned homework problems almost every day. You will be expected to turn in ALL
assignments. Your homework should be neat, and all appropriate steps, figures, formulas, and processes
should be clearly indicated or expressed. Procedure and method are much more important than just
producing an answer.
Homework turned in on time will be graded either 100, 50 or 0, based on completion. Assignments
turned in up to two days after due date can earn up to 70%. After three days and up until the end of the
respective unit, students can earn up to 50%. Late homework will not be received unless complete.
Progress Reports:
Progress reports will be sent out every 3 weeks. They need to be signed by a parent or guardian and returned to
Ms. Pinto as soon as possible.
Make-up Policy:
It is the students responsibility to check for work missed and get notes from a classmate when absent.
Planning ahead and gathering work is required when missing school for school-related reasons. Missed
assignments can be requested by e-mailing the teacher
