grade parents. They will be held in our cafeteria from January-April, the last
Monday of every month from 8:00-9:00am. A continental breakfast will be
provided. Our first workshop will be Surviving the High School Years. It
will be held on January 25thfrom 8:00-9:00 a.m. in the High School Caf.
This months topic will be school resources available and checklists to help
monitor your childs progress. Please RSVP by January 19th to the Guidance
Office. Please let us know if you need a language interpreter.
Students that took the PSAT last October should have received an email from
the College Board how to access the PSAT online report and information on
how to prepare for the SAT. If they didnt provide an email address in their
PSAT/NMSQT answer sheet, the school should be getting hard copies of their
report soon.
Even if students didnt take the PSAT, students could still access free
resources to practice for the SAT. Recommend your student to visit the
following website to access those resources.

https://sat.collegeboard.org/practice
The new SAT is coming in March 2016! Practice before you take the new
SAT in March. The new test focuses on the classroom skills and knowledge
that colleges want most. It covers only the vocabulary and math that are
widely used in college and career. It features an optional essay. The College
Board has also removed the guessing penalty, encouraging students who have
worked hard to try their best on every question. In addition, the College Board
has teamed up with Khan Academy to provide world-class, personalized,
online practice tools to all students for free. Its a great way for students to
sharpen what they need to know for the new SAT and for college at their
own pace, anytime, anywhere.

In the Classroom:
Studio Art:
The Studio Art class visited the Attleboro Arts Museum on Thursday, January 7th.
The students viewed over 300 artworks from local and regional artist in the
Museums annual Member's Show. A wide range of art was on display offering
students a glimpse into the contemporary art world. "Creativity and Art are so
important and so valuable, as is the ability and desire to make things with your hands.
It's important for student's to be seeing artworks first hand. The Attleboro Arts
Museum is a great place for them to see art does exist and is accessible." Chris
Flanagan said, Museum Programs Coordinator, Abby Rovaldi, gave the students a
presentation on the exhibition and was on hand to talk with students about the
artwork and artists who created them. Overall the students came away very inspired
and ready to create more amazing artwork.

Geometry:
Mrs. Henderson's Period 2 and Period 4 Geometry classes
went to the writing lab on December 22, 2015 and used the
Geometer's sketchpad program. They investigated the angle
addition postulate and saw the
relationship within an angle. Students
explored the program and created and
animated their own drawings. The
Geometer's Sketchpad program is a
great way to see Geometry concepts
in a dynamic way.
Mrs. Hendersons Geometry
classes also prepared for the midterm by doing a jigsaw
where each group covered a chapter and had to prepare
a poster board, a study guide, and sample page for each
chapter. They presented their poster boards to the class.
Study guides and sample page were copied for the class.
