Like other biological beings on this planet, organizations/systems dwell in, and
are largely constituted by, complexly interwoven social and physical
environments. All parts of an environment are connected, interrelated, and
dependent upon each other. This dense, interrelated network of mutually
dependent living beings is called ecology

already a superpower. The nation has surprised the world with major
developments in the field of technology. Gunpowder and compass were
first used in China. Today it is focusing on fields like robotics,
semiconductors, high-speed trains, supercomputers, genetics and
automobiles. It is steadily expanding its exploration program.
Top 9: Canada
Geographical Setting:
Canada is the second largest country on earth, covering an area of 10 million
square kilometers (3.9 million square miles). Three oceans border Canada: the
Pacific Ocean in the west, the Atlantic Ocean in the east, and the Arctic Ocean to
the north. Altogether, Canada has over 200,000 kilometers (125,000 miles) of
coastline. Canada shares two borders with the United States: a very long border
in the south and another long frontier in the northwest.
Due to its large size, Canada has many different types of landscape.
There are areas with high mountains, different types of forests, prairie
grasslands and arctic tundra where the ground is permanently frozen.
Canada is also home to many rivers and lakes. Like Canadas
landscapes, the climate varies across the country. In the areas where
most of the population lives, there are generally four distinct seasons
summer, fall, winter and spring.
Canada has a highly developed technology sector. The Government of Canada
encourages industrial research. The nation specializes in biotechnology and
space exploration. It allocated 1.8 percent of its GDP for R&D. Canada launched
The Science, Technology and Innovation Council in an endeavor to enhance the
quality of life of its citizens through science and technology. Canada introduced
the wireless interact machines, chip less credit and debit cards and the advanced
supersonic twin-engine, Avro Arrow.
Top 8: United Kingdom
Geographical Setting:
The United Kingdom is located in Western Europe to the northwest of
France and between the North Atlantic Ocean and the North Sea (map).
Its capital and largest city is London, but other large cities are Glasgow,
Birmingham, Liverpool and Edinburgh.
The UK has a total area of 94,058 square miles (243,610 sq km). Much of
the topography of the UK consists of rugged, undeveloped hills and low
mountains but there are flat and gently rolling plains in the eastern and
southeastern areas of the country. The climate of the UK is considered
temperate despite its latitude. However the UK is known for being very
cloudy and rainy throughout much of the year. The western parts of the
country are wettest and also windy, while the eastern portions are drier
and less windy.
The United Kingdom is the worlds first industrialized nation. It is credited with the
discovery of hydrogen. Jet engine, locomotive engine, World Wide Web, electric
motor, incandescent light bulb and commercial electrical telegraph were invented
in the UK. Britains recent technologies include the Unmanned Combat Air
Vehicle, BAE Systems Taranis.
Top 7: Finland
Geographical Setting:
The history and politics of Finland has been shaped by its location, wedged
between Sweden to the west, Norway to the north and Russia to the east.
Finland only really deserves its frosty reputation in winter, from November to mid
March, when temperatures drop to -20C/-4F or lower.
Most of the national forests are managed for timber, which is used for the
manufacture of furniture, paper and fiber boards and for domestic heating
and warming Finland's 1.6 million saunas. Finland's forests are said to be
the most sustainably managed in Europe. Only 8% of the land is used for
agriculture - more than 50% of Finns work in manufacturing or the service
sector.
Finland is well-known for high-tech projects and healthcare facilities. It gave birth
to Nokia, which was a world leader in mobile communications for many years.
Now-a-days the nation is focusing on biosciences, energy and environmental
science.
Top 6: Russia
Geographical Setting:
As the world's largest country, Russian has a very diverse geography.
Northern Russian extends into the Arctic Circle. This area is primarily tundra and
forests, with thousands of lakes.
Russia has many mountain areas. The Ural mountains cover 2,500 miles of
eastern Russia.
From the western boarder to the Ural mountains is the North European
Plain. This is a large rolling plain with rich soil and grasslands.
Three quarters of the Russian population lives in the cities and towns of
western Russia.
About 25% of the population still live in rural areas.
The Russians launched the first human-made object (Soviet Unions Luna 2) to
reach the surface of the Moon. Apart from space technology, Russia is rightly
called the Big Daddy in the field of heavy machinery. It has one of the best hightech defense system. It exports defense equipment to many nations in the world.
Russias S300, S400, S500 and ICBM long range surface-to-air missile systems
are very efficient than any other in the world.
Top 5: Germany
Geographical Setting:
Germany is a country in west-central Europe, that stretches from the Alps,
across the North European Plain to the North Sea and the Baltic Sea.
At the southern end of Germany are the Alps, the highest mountain range

desert.
The Jordan, the only important river, flows from the north through Lake
Hule and Lake Kinneret (also called Sea of Galilee), finally entering the
Dead Sea 1,349 ft (411 m) below sea levelthe world's lowest land
elevation.
Although small in territory, Israel's landscape and climate are varied, and
its dense population does not interfere with a wealth of plants and wildlife,
as well as many natural attractions.
Around 35 percent of Israels exports are technology-related. Israel is one
among the top five in space science. It is also known for its innovations in
the defense industry. Israel developed the first unmanned aerial vehicle
