WHEAT/BARLEY Harvest

Ruth 1

And Elimelech Naomi's husband died; and she was left,

and her two sons. And they took them wives of the women of
Moab; the name of the one was Orpah, and the name of the
other Ruth: and they dwelled there about ten years. And Mahlon
and Chilion died also both of them; and the woman was left of
her two sons and her husband. Then she arose with her
daughters in law, that she might return from the country of
Moab: for she had heard in the country of Moab how that the
Lord had visited his people in giving them bread.
And she said unto them, Call me not Naomi, call me Mara: for
the Almighty hath dealt very bitterly with me. I went out full and
the Lord hath brought me home again empty: why then call ye
me Naomi, seeing the Lord hath testified against me, and the
Almighty hath afflicted me? So Naomi returned, and Ruth the
Moabitess, her daughter in law, with her, which returned out of
the country of Moab: and they came to Bethlehem in the
beginning of barley harvest.

Ruth 2

And she said, I pray you, let me glean and gather

after the reapers among the sheaves: so she came, and
hath continued even from the morning until now, that she
tarried a little in the house. Then said Boaz unto Ruth, Hearest
thou not, my daughter? Go not to glean in another field, neither
go from hence, but abide here fast by my maidens: Let thine
eyes be on the field that they do reap, and go thou after them:
have I not charged the young men that they shall not touch
thee? and when thou art athirst, go unto the vessels, and drink
of that which the young men have drawn.
And Ruth the Moabitess said, He said unto me also, Thou shalt
keep fast by my young men, until they have ended all my
harvest. And Naomi said unto Ruth her daughter in law, It is
good, my daughter, that thou go out with his maidens, that they
meet thee not in any other field. So she kept fast by the
maidens of Boaz to glean unto the end of barley harvest and
of wheat harvest; and dwelt with her mother in law.

1 Samuel 6:1-16

And they of Bethshemesh were reaping their wheat

harvest in the valley: and they lifted up their eyes, and saw
the ark, and rejoiced to see it. And the cart came into the field
of Joshua, a Bethshemite, and stood there, where there was a
great stone: and they clave the wood of the cart, and offered the

kine a burnt offering unto the Lord. And the Levites took down
the ark of the Lord, and the coffer that was with it, wherein the
jewels of gold were, and put them on the great stone: and the
men of Bethshemesh offered burnt offerings and sacrificed
sacrifices the same day unto the Lord.
1 Samuel 1-17

Is it not wheat harvest to day? I will call unto the Lord,

and he shall send thunder and rain; that ye may perceive and
see that your wickedness is great, which ye have done in the
sight of the Lord, in asking you a king. So Samuel called unto
the Lord; and the Lord sent thunder and rain that day: and all
the people greatly feared the Lord and Samuel.

Genesis 45:1-7

For these two years hath the famine been in the land: and
yet there are five years, in the which there shall neither be
earing nor harvest. And God sent me before you to preserve
you a posterity in the earth, and to save your lives by a great
deliverance.

2 Samuel 21:1-10

And he delivered them into the hands of the Gibeonites,

and they hanged them in the hill before the Lord: and they fell
all seven together, and were put to death in the days of harvest,
in the first days, in the beginning of barley harvest. And Rizpah
the daughter of Aiah took sackcloth, and spread it for her upon
the rock, from the beginning of harvest until water dropped
upon them out of heaven, and suffered neither the birds of
the air to rest on them by day, nor the beasts of the field by
night.

2 Samuel 23:1-17

And three of the thirty chief went down, and came to

David in the harvest time unto the cave of Adullam: and the
troop of the Philistines pitched in the valley of Rephaim. And
David was then in an hold, and the garrison of the Philistines
was then in Bethlehem.

2 Samuel 24

So the Lord sent a pestilence upon Israel from the

morning even to the time appointed: and there died of the
people from Dan even to Beersheba seventy thousand men.
And when the angel stretched out his hand upon Jerusalem to
destroy it, the Lord repented him of the evil, and said to the
angel that destroyed the people, It is enough: stay now thine
hand. And the angel of the Lord was by the threshingplace of
Araunah the Jebusite.

Job 5:1-7

I have seen the foolish taking root: but suddenly I cursed

crushed in the gate, neither is there any to deliver them.
Whose harvest the hungry eateth up, and taketh it even out
of the thorns, and the robber swalloweth up their substance.
Although affliction cometh not forth of the dust, neither doth
trouble spring out of the ground; Yet man is born unto trouble,
as the sparks fly upward.
Joel 1

Be ye ashamed, O ye husbandmen; howl, O ye

vinedressers, for the wheat and for the barley; because the
harvest of the field is perished. The vine is dried up, and the
fig tree languisheth; the pomegranate tree, the palm tree also,
and the apple tree, even all the trees of the field, are withered:
because joy is withered away from the sons of men.

Mark 4:1-30

For the earth bringeth forth fruit of herself; first the blade,
then the ear, after that the full corn in the ear. But when the
fruit is brought forth, immediately he putteth in the sickle,
because the harvest is come. And he said, Whereunto shall we
liken the kingdom of God? or with what comparison shall we
compare it?

John 4:34-39

Jesus saith unto them, My meat is to do the will of him

that sent me, and to finish his work. Say not ye, There are yet
four months, and then cometh harvest? behold, I say unto you,
Lift up your eyes, and look on the fields; for they are white
already to harvest. And he that reapeth receiveth wages, and
gathereth fruit unto life eternal: that both he that soweth and he
that reapeth may rejoice together.

Matthew 9:35-38

Then saith he unto his disciples, The harvest truly is

plenteous, but the labourers are few; Pray ye therefore the Lord
