Seismic Withstand Strength

PTPH/HV - Page 27

All LTB and HPL circuit

breakers can withstand
seismic accelerations up to
5 m/s2 (0,5 g) in accordance
with IEC 1166 and IEEE 693.

For the most severe conditions

reinforced support insulators are
used.
In some cases damping elements.

Wide range of applications

Application

Switching of Capacitor Banks

Voltage transients when energizing one phase of a 72 kV capacitor bank

PTPH/HV - Page 34

A: At an unsuitable point-on-wave position, close to the power

frequency voltage peak. A high voltage transient is generated.

B: With Switchsync relay. Energizing occurs close to voltage

zero, and no transient is generated.
