Background
Balai Bahasa Indonesia Perth (Inc)
Balai Bahasa Indonesia Perth (BBIP) is a WA-based
cultural non-profit organisation. It was established in
2008 with the main aim of increasing activities and
developing closer links between individuals,
businesses, communities and institutions in order to
develop a more effective Indonesia-Australia
relationship at all levels. BBIP coordinates a range of
activities throughout each year. One of the main
events on the BBIP calendar is the annual Perth
Indonesian Film Festival, now in its sixth year.
BBIP Perth Indonesia Film Festival
Since its inception in 2011, the Festival has successfully introduced the diversity of
Indonesia to the people of Western Australia, through the enjoyable experience of film.
With the screening of 30 Indonesian films during this time, Perth audiences have
experienced Indonesian stories as told by some of Indonesias best and most prominent
filmmakers and had the opportunity to meet and chat with a total of 38 high profile actors,
directors and producers at the screenings. Films are screened in Indonesian with English
subtitles and are selected to represent different genres of film and to illustrate aspects of
life and culture within and across Indonesia, from Aceh in the north of Sumatra to
Palembang in the south, and to Java and across the vast Indonesian archipelago to
Papua.
In the past, the BBIP Perth Indonesian Film Festival has been attended by a variety of
guests representing Indonesian and Western Australian government and non-government
officials, local members of parliament, foreign Consuls, film and cultural observers,
educators, teachers and students of Indonesian in WA schools, and the general public.
The event is really brought to life through the presence of the Indonesian film
personalities.
Various marketing campaigns are held prior to leach years Perth Indonesian Film
Festival. The following are links to some online media who have covered recent Perth

Perth Indonesian Film Festival August
The future
The fifth annual BBIP Perth Indonesian Film Festival was held from 3-6 September
2015. Over the years the organisation has been honoured to work with Indonesian
production companies, producers, directors, and actors to bring some of the best of the
Indonesian film industry to Western Australia each year. BBIP is grateful for their
support. (See Appendix 1 and 2 for the full list)
Each year the BBIP works many hundreds of volunteer hours to ensure the Festival is
brought to the people of Western Australia, thus facilitating BBIPs goal of providing the
general public with the opportunity to participate in activities that foster cross-cultural
links amongst individuals, groups and associations in Indonesia and Australia. Balai
Bahasa Indonesia Perth would like this great annual event to continue and become an
increasingly popular event on WAs cultural and entertainment calendar.
In order for this to happen Balai Bahasa Indonesia Perth are seeking sponsors for PIFF
