PERSONAL BLOG
Students will be required to keep a blog for this class (we will go over set up and procedure in
class). This is where photography assignments will be uploaded for grading. Other assignments,
such as written assignments, will be submitted by uploading them onto the blog as well. Displaying
and posting photographs will give you, as the photographer, a sense of ownership and pride for your
work.
GRADING
Class will start with a warm up. Most of these will be done
on the computer and submitted on your blog. Others will be
done on personal paper and turned in that day or saved for
a later date. Computers are for class usage only. Any web
surfing, personal emails, games, etc. is not allowed during
instruction or work time. Violation of this will result in loss of
points. These points are non redeemable.

C72I look for effort and progress in your work. Work for the
class is expected to be work in progress, not submitting at
the last minute or presenting work done previously in another class, or from a previous date.
Student work must be current and a contact sheet of all exposures will be required for each
assignment. Students will receive points for assignments turned in, quality of work, quizzes, and
tests. Emphasis is in individual progress and following directions. Grades are given accordingly. In
no way is one students work evaluated in competition with that of anothers.
-Late Work is late. It will be graded later; do not expect it to be put into the Portal by next class.

-Copyright Laws: Copying or presenting someone elses photographs constitutes plagiarism and is
grounds for a failing grade. Clip art or images from the Internet are not allowed. Students must use
their own photos for assignments unless otherwise instructed by teacher.
-Extra Credit: Periodically there will be opportunities to receive extra credit. In order to take
advantage of these opportunities, students must be caught up with all of the class assignments first,
before submitting extra credit.

ABSENCES
It is expected that students attend class and be on time. If a student does miss however, for
important reasons, students will be given time to make up assignments and projects. You will need
a late pass to accompany work that does not have a rubric with it. These can be
obtained from me.
If you know that you will be absent, prior arrangements should be made so that you can get the
assignments and start working on them or at least have a heads up of what you will be missing so
that when you come back you will be on task.
You should never approach me during lecture or instruction to find out what you are missing or what
you will be missing. This needs to be done before or after school or during individual work time so
that interruptions are not made.
PERSONAL ELECTRONICS
Cell phones are welcome in class; however, they are not permitted during lecture, discussion, or
when you are to be working. If your phone interferes, I will confiscate it. The first time you may
retrieve it from me after class, the second time it will go to the office and you will have to get it after
school from the administration. So, while you are not using it, I would appreciate you turning it to
airplane mode and keeping it out of sight.
During personal work time you may listen to your own music. If you choose to do so, you will need to
make sure that one ear is free from your headphones or earbuds. During lecture, discussion, or any
time besides personal work time, your earbuds or headphones are to be put away.

MATERIALS REQUIRED
-Digital Camera: A DSLR (digital single lens reflex with manual settings) Camera is preferred,
however, an automatic digital camera will make do for this class.
Note- Students need their own camera. It is strongly encouraged that Cell Phones will not be
used as a source to capture images for photography assignments.

(Checking out cameras- in case your camera breaks or is lost during the semester, you will be able
to check out a camera to complete your homework assignment. To check out a camera, you and
your guardian have to first sign the camera rental contract. Students are responsible for all
equipment that is checked out through the school. Any equipment that is broken, lost, stolen, or
needs to be replaced, will be charged to the student.)
-Flash Drive: You must have a flash drive each day in class. This is where your work will be saved.
-Three Ring Binder/Pocket Folder with brads: You will need one of these for only this classseparate from any other class- where you will keep notes, assignments, and photos. This is
welcome to stay in the class.
-Additional materials such as photo print paper and matting supplies can be purchased through school if needed.

EXPECTATIONS: Respect Self. Respect Others. Respect Property. Respect Art.

Please keep this disclosure and refer to it if questions arise.
