About Me:
I graduated from Norfolk State University with a B.S. in Chemistry and from Regent University with a MS.Ed.
in Educational Leadership. I have been teaching since 2003 but have been teaching at Joseph P. King, Jr.
Middle School since 2008. I love teaching. I believe its what Ive been called to do! I am very excited about
this school year and ready to dive into the world of science with your child
Physical Science is the study of matter and energy, the purpose of this class is to get you to think about matter,
which is the stuff everything is made up of, how matter interacts with one another and how energy affects
matter. All my students will be scientists and critical thinkers. You will learn how to ask meaningful questions
abut the physical works and conduct careful investigations using the scientific method. Everyone will need to
be able to use scientific terminology and concepts as they apply them to this class and scientific theory. Each
one of you will also need to be able to apply these problem-solving skills to real world situations. This will
require that you are always thinking about the world around you and making connections between what we
study in school and how it might relate to your everyday life.

Classroom Rules
1. Arrive to class on time.
2. Enter the classroom prepared with your supplies and ready to work.
3. Be an active listener and follow directions.
4. Be courteous, respectful, and responsible for your actions and choices.
5. Lying, plagiarism, or cheating will not be tolerated.
6. Always strive to do your best!!!
7. When in doubt, ASK!

Attendance:
Regular attendance is essential for success in this class. Students are responsible for getting classwork and
homework missed assignments on days in which they are absent.
A student who is absent the day before a test or quiz, but present when the test was scheduled, should be
prepared to take the test or quiz with that class. A student who is absent on the test or quiz day only should be
prepared to take the test or quiz on the day of their return.
**If you know you are going to be absent, let me know in advance and we can make arrangements for you. If
you are at school during any portion of the school day, your homework will be due and any scheduled quizzes or
tests must be taken. It is your responsibility to come to see me if you arrive late to school or leave early and
miss my class period.
Warm-up:
Upon entering the classroom, students are to be seated and silently working on the Warm-Up.
Homework:
Homework will be given Monday through Thursday. It is due at the beginning of class and will be corrected by
the student. Points are awarded for assignments that are completed according to directions and carefully
corrected.

A quiz will be given each week on either Thursday or Friday.
Tests will be given every three weeks.

Note:
1. The use of cell phones and other electronic devices is prohibited during school hours
and they will be confiscated and taken to the office for parent pick up.
2. Jackets/Cardigans that do not adhere to the uniform dress code policy will be
confiscated as well. Please review the uniform policy thoroughly. For example, no
jackets with hood and must be the specified colors.
