NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN, pursuant to the
Municipal Code of the City of Claremont and the
California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA),
that Smart Investments, Inc. has developed the proposed Southwest San Jose Specific Plan (Specific
Plan) on an approximately 3.96-acre site. The Specific Plan would establish land use, development,
and implementation framework to allow for the enhancement and redevelopment of a site located near
the southern end of the City. The Specific Plan includes provisions for the construction of a new,
four-story hotel with 121 rooms, pool and spa, and
additional site improvements. The City Council will
conduct a public hearing to consider the Specific
Plan, associated Mitigated Negative Declaration
(MND), and Mitigation Monitoring and Reporting Program (MMRP) on Tuesday, September 13, 2016. The meeting will commence at
7:00 p.m., in the City Council Chamber, located
at 225 West Second Street, at which time all interested persons are invited to appear and be heard.
Following the City Council determination, the Architectural Commission would consider the hotels
proposed visual and design characteristics. NOTICE IS FURTHER GIVEN that with the assistance from PlaceWorks, City staff has completed
an Initial Study for the Southwest San Jose Specific Plan in accordance with the Citys guidelines
for implementing CEQA. The Initial Study determined there could be significant impacts related to
