Training Overview
Training Description: Job Readiness Training is designed for students who are in the third
semester of office administration program at Marmara Universitesi. The training consists of three
instructor-led workshops as follows:

Job search strategies workshop (1 day)

Resume writing workshop (1 day)

Interview techniques workshop (2 days)

Purpose of training: The main purpose of this training is to prepare participants for internship/
job search.
Objectives: The students who participate in all the three workshops will be able to;

Plan and manage effectively their job search journey without needing a professional
assistance on job search strategies, resume writing and interview techniques.

Effectively utilize various beneficial job search tools and methods in their job search.

Generate a high-impact resume.

Express themselves clearly and successfully in any type of job interview.

Method of instruction: Learning will be facilitated through lectures, instructor guided


discussions, in-class activities, and assignments that require critical self-reflection.

Mode of Delivery: This is a 16-hour classroom training that requires four 4-hour workshop
sessions to complete. Learners will use a computer and the Internet to create some of the learning
projects mentioned in this syllabus.
Attendance: Attendance in workshops is not mandatory however, in order to complete the
training students are encouraged to participate in all of the four workshop sessions that have different
learning objectives. Student will register to workshops in advance (until Sep. 20), so that, three learning
groups (approximately 25 students in each) will be set. Each workshop will be repeated for each group as
it is seen in the training schedule (see Appendix A).
Instructional materials: The instructor will be delivering the content through the PowerPoint
slides she prepared before-hand. Students also will be given handouts that include workshop program,
useful resources, and brief outlines of the content.
Prerequisite: No prerequisite.
Assessment Strategy: Students will not be graded through the class activities and assignments.
All in-class activities and after-class assignments are designed to reinforce learning in class and create the
environment that allows the instructor to provide constructive feedback to learners. Similarly, the
assignments that learners are expected to submit following the workshops aim to reinforce the mastery of
the learning objectives. The instructor will use check lists to evaluate learners assignments and provide
clear and constructive feedback by referencing the related check list. Students will be encouraged to
revise their assignments in light of feedback they have received.
Training Time/Date/Place: All of the workshop sessions will take place in the semester of Fall
2015 academic year. Please see the Course Schedule in Appendix A for detailed information about time
and date. All workshop sessions are delivered at Marmara Universitesi Sosyal Bilimler Meslek
Yksekokulu, Anadoluhisar Yerlekesi.

Instructors Roles and Responsibilities


The instructor is committed to deliver the workshops timely.
The instructor is responsible to make clear the instructions for all learners in all kinds of
classroom activities.
The instructor is committed to creating an open and safe learning environment for all learners
and encourage them to show participation.
The instructor is responsible to provide guidance to the learners in order for them to have
pointed classroom discussions.
The instructor is committed to evaluate learners works carefully and fairly and prove them
constructive feedback.
The instructor is also committed to support learners during the training period, as the learners
try to meet the training outcomes.
Learners Roles and Responsibilities
Learners are expected to show up in the learning groups as they initially scheduled for. In case
of not being able to participate in a particular workshop learners should inform the instructor in
advance in order to attendant to the related workshop with other groups.
Learners are expected to engage in learning activities during the workshops.
Learners are encouraged to discuss with the instructor the possible challenges on the way of
meeting training outcomes.
Learners are also encouraged to critically reflect upon their learning experiences and
share/discuss their opinions with the instructor after each workshop.
