Dear Mr Howey,
The station master ordered me to acknowledge the receipt of your letter and to say
that after careful consideration he has decided NOT to accede to your request for a
meeting.
The detective who was in charge of the case is now a retired gentleman and owing to
his advanced age, r.vill under no circumstances grant any interviews or enter into any
correspondence whatsoever concerning his involvement with this old case.

I am to remind you of the regrettable failure of the Gardai to elucidate the mystery
which surrounds the terrible series of events marking the case about which you have
requested.

However, some member of the public may be abie to produce a possible theory - even
after all these years - which will explain the events and fit the facts as to why the
Community in Kilmatogh met its fate.
