We're just days away from the opening of our wonderful new
Honors Center @ Core Campus, and I wanted to fill you in on
what to expect next week.
If all goes according to plan, the Honors administrative offices
(including the National Scholars Program offices) will move
over this coming weekend, and will be open for business
(while we unpack boxes) beginning Monday, September 5 at
8:00am. At the same time, the new Honors Academic Center
(also located on the first floor of the Honors Center) will become available to students.
The new Academic Center includes two seminar rooms, three
small study areas, a library, and the "Great Hall," which will
be used for lectures and other special events. All of these
spaces will be available to Honors students on a 24/7 basis
when they're not reserved for Honors programs. I'll be sending you more details and some rules for the use of these spaces over the weekend.
As with any new construction project, minor problems will
likely crop up, so please be patient as we work to resolve
them. Definitely let the Honors office know if there are any
issues we need to deal with.
Finally, please be sure to attend our Honors Welcome Back
Drop-In Reception in the Great Hall a week from Friday, September 9, from 2:00-3:30pm.
