REFLECTION PAPER ON THE MOVIE THE EXORCISM OF EMILY ROSE

The Film, The Exorcism of Emily Rose is based on a true story of

a girl named Emily who died because of the possession of the demons in
her body. In the movie, Emily believed that she was possessed. The
movie revolves round the story of possession of Emily Rose and how the
priest (Father Moore) defends himself against charges of negligent
homicide that was given to him in the court. The film shows a test of
decision

Erin

Bruner, as an attorney of Father Moore plays an important role in the

movie. The people believed that the unusual reactions or movement or
Emily was about a disorder that only medical experts can cure Emily.
They say that Emily Rose has a disorder called psychotic epileptic.
In her final stages in the court, Erin Bruner defending Fr.
Moore, a priest accused of murdering Emily Rose during an exorcism he

She doesn't ask the jury to believe the improbable story of possession
but instead, simply entertain the idea that there are some things in
this world which medicine can't diagnose.
The Film The Exorcism of Emily Rose implies the true meaning of
our belief and faith to God. It shows how people believe and how
people identify the true and untrue about our society. In our society,
people nowadays have different views of morality which misrepresent
the true meaning of belief. It deals with some interesting ideas, like
how can you judge someone, a judgment which should be based on proven
facts, when beliefs are at the center of the whole process.

In the film, Erin Bruner says that Demons exist whether we

believe it or not it states that there will always be an element of
the unknown that is beyond the knowledge of people and current scope
of scientific investigation. In the case of Emily Rose and Fr. Moores
supernatural world demons and demonic possessions, we cannot judge
them for their beliefs about the demonic possession itself. For me,
this movie points out that people in our society sometimes get blinded
about the facts of religion. Because people sometimes quickly judge
what they cant understand and sometimes they are close-minded. Erin
Bruner also said that Facts leave no room for reasonable doubt Who
gave anyone the authority to state what is true or untrue? The film
suggests a respect for simple faith, the trusting innocent faith of
ordinary

people

that

more

critics

superstitious. This is the case with Emily Rose's parents and their
beliefs and trust in Father Moore.
