INTERNATIONAL SCIENCE INNOVATION COMPETITION (ISIC)

Rules and Guideline


Rules
1. The competition is open to all local and international students aged 13-17 years old.
2. PARTICIPATION FROM LOCAL SCHOOL :
Each participant may submit ONE R & D project/research in teams of two
students.
Schools are encourage to participate in more than one project, the second entry
must also be in the form of group ( 2 people ).
Each participant will be charged RM60.00 each.
3. INTERNATIONAL PARTICIPATION:
Each participant may submit ONE R & D project/research in teams of two
students.
Schools are encourage to participate in more than one project, the second entry
must also be in the form of group ( 2 people ).
Each participant will be charged RM100.00 each.
4. Compulsory for every team to participate in both:
i.
Poster Presentation - Poster size is portrait format A0 (841 mm x 1189 mm)
ii.
Research Presentation
5. Field contested are:
Engineering ( Engineering Invention )
Pure Science ( Physics , Chemistry, Biology & Mathematics)
Environmental Science ( Innovation )
6. The juries will decide on winners of poster/project presentation and medals will be
awarded according to the following proportion:
GOLD
: 15%
SILVER : 20%
BRONZE : 25%
7. SPECIAL AWARDS will also be given to deserving research works in each category to
highlight the special merits of the poster or project presentation according to the
recommendation of the juries.

8. The Judges will be selected from 3 major sectors namely; the judge from the Ministry
of education of judges and IPTA/IPTS.
9. All participants are encouraged to make patent or novelty search to project elements
of innovation and scientific discovery.
10. Participants are required to prepare two copies of the research paper for the
competition. Both research papers should be submitted in the form of hard copy to the
Secretariat on 21 September 2016 (during the registration upon arrival).
11. It is compulsory for all participants to wear formal attire during the event.
12. Closing date for registration is 21st August 2016.

Guideline of Poster Presentation


1. Refer to the schedule provided upon registration on 21st September 2016.
2. Post each poster according to the assigned number for poster presentation at the
booth provided.
3. Each project/participant must present at respective booth during poster presentation
and ready for any Q&A by the juries.
4. Juries are among lectures from local universities.
5. Content of Poster:

Material and methods
Results and discussion

Commercialization potential or impact

Guideline of Research Presentation


1. Refer to the schedule provided upon registration on 21st September 2016.
2. Please submit the Power Point file before the presentation.
3. Each team is given ten minutes for the presentation. At the end of the ninth minute
participants will be reminded

to wrap up the presentation. The session is then

followed with a five-minute Q&A by the juries.


4. The presentation should consist :

Introduction Name/Title/Objective

The theoretical background

Experimental approach

Results

Discussion

Conclusion

Guideline of Report Writing Research

The research paper must be written in English

Use A 4 paper

Use a legible font Times New Roman (TNR)or Arial Narrow

Write the title is written in font size of 20 pt TNR,bold, centered

Use 14 pt font, centered for the students and advisors name.

Headlines:TNR 14 pt, bold, left

Major Subtitle:TNR 12 pt, bold, left

Use the interval 1.5

Set the margin of the left paper to 2 cm on each side.

Figures and tables must be properly labeled and numbered.

Research paper must be proofread before submission.
