Classroom Procedures and Routines


How do students enter the room?
o Single file line through door with teacher leading
How do students leave the room?
o Single file line through door with teacher leading
How do students move around the room during the lesson?
o Raise hand to ask for permission or show hand signal
Passing out and collecting supplies
o Supplies located in center of table groups in a supplies bucket
o Collect supplies by passing to student #2 in table group to bring to teacher
o Teacher may pull name sticks for a classroom helper
Drinking fountain, restroom, pencil sharpening
o Students have personal water bottles at desk
o Students use hand signal for restroom use
o Students ask permission for pencil sharpening
Dismissal/greeting
o School uses dismissal bells
o Teacher greets students at outside line-up area to walk into classroom
o Students need to pack-up and write in planner before leaving classroom
Roll taking
o Teacher takes roll during Morning Work
o Mark 100 if student is absent. If student shows up before 8:30am, change the
100 to a T to shoe tardiness
o Teacher chooses name using name sticks to bring attendance to office at 8:30am
when attendance bell rings
Passing out and collecting papers
o Homework
All students have personal workbooks/textbooks/planners
If worksheet is needed, teacher passes this out to place in center of table
group or will call on a student to help pass out papers
o Completed work
Students will turn in by table group or will leave in workbook if corrected
in class
o Extra work
Students will turn in by table group
Classroom Physical Environment

Furniture arrangement
o Student desks are arranged in 7 groups of 4-6 students each within classroom
o Teacher desk is on front left side of Smart Board
o Document camera is on front right side of Smart Board

o Would be posted according to student number on back wall

Student Management

Classroom rules (copy is required)


o Student generated- Be respectful, Be responsible, Be Resourceful
School rules (copy is required)
o To respect all members of the school staff: teachers, safety supervisors,
custodians, office staff, librarian, instructional assistants, assistant principal, and
principal. Be courteous to all children and adults. Say, Mr., Mrs., Ms., or
Miss when talking to adults.
o Respect the rights of other children and treat them as you want to be treated. If
you feel at anytime that you are a victim of hate-motivated behavior, please see a
site administrator.
o Respect the rules and standards in your classroom.
o Balls, bats, skateboards, rollerblades, or other athletic equipment are not to be
brought to school.
o Avoid bouncing balls on any building or in the hallways.
o Snacks are permitted in designated areas only and chewing gum is not permitted
at school.
o Use the trash barrels and recycle bins appropriately to keep your school grounds
beautiful. Work to make your assignments, your classroom, and yourself clean
and neat at all times.
o Your parents may wish to visit your classroom. They will need to schedule this in
advance with your teacher. Visits are twenty minutes unless otherwise scheduled
with the teacher. All visitors need to check in with the office.
o You may not leave the school campus at any time without permission.
o CD players, MP3 players, tape recorders, video games, cameras or other such
devices are not allowed at school unless special permission is given by your
teacher or an administrator. Cellular telephones are not permitted to be in use
during school hours. Phones must be out of sight and off the entire school day.
o At all times, behave in such a manner as to bring credit to your school, your
community, your friends, and yourself.
o No cats, dogs, or other pets are to be brought to school except with special
permission.
o Name calling and inappropriate language have no place at Stevenson Ranch
School.

Week 1-Classroom Management Plan

o Toys, small play objects, or other articles and gimmicks are not to be brought to
school.
o Children are not to bring any personal medicine, pills, etc., to school.
o You must go directly home after dismissal from school.
Student discipline procedures
o Use of green tickets and consequence (ticket would be taken away)
o One student would be selected at end of day to receive ticket from teacher and
also has opportunity to select another student
o Each month, students tickets would be in class raffle and be given a prize
provided by the teacher

main idea into their own words and share before moving onto next
part of lesson
Between lessons and/or activities
Students place lesson 1 papers to side or in folder/correct divider
of binders before moving onto lesson 2
