September 6th, 2016

Dear Fraser Wood Families,

Welcome to a new school year! We hope that you have had a wonderful summer full of
friends, family and sun. We are so excited to begin the 2016/17 school year. Our first day
will be Tuesday, September 6th from 10:00 11:00am.

We would like to welcome back all of our returning students and families and offer a warm
welcome to the new students and families who have joined our school community this
summer/fall.

Students have been placed into temporary grade grouped homerooms for the week. This
is NOT your childs permanent class placement. The first week back will involve students
starting every morning and finishing the day in their temporary grade group homerooms
listed at the front of the school and on classroom doors. During the first week of school
students will be learning and participating in different grade groups, with different
teachers, doing social responsibility and getting to know you activities.

We will do our best to place all of our students into their permanent classrooms as soon as
possible, however we will not be finalizing classes until weve had some time to make
thoughtful decisions about class placements. Once children are placed into classes, please
keep in mind that immediate changes will not be made, as we need to give students and
teachers time to settlein, form routines, friendships and get to know one another. Your
patience, support & ongoing conversations with your children around this topic are
appreciated!

We are pleased to welcome several new staff members this year. Please refer to the Staffing
Updates below, for names and approximate placements (these may change depending on
our final approved enrolment). We are so excited to again be working with such a dynamic
group of teachers and support staff here at Fraser Wood!

Please check our school website for uptodate information. All of our Newsletters, notices
and information are online please sign up! In order to support our environmental
learning, we will not be providing paper copies of information. All communication will be
sent out via email and/or posted on our website. To subscribe, scroll down to the bottom of
our Fraser Wood school website (Home Page) and click on the newsletter subscription icon.

do not send in money until your childs teacher send a notice home & we have been
back to school for two weeks. Thanks!

Student Safety & Allergies

As a school community it is important to be aware that there are students at Fraser Wood
with life threatening allergies. Students needs are addressed on an individual basis. Please
stay tuned for more information from your son/daughters classroom teacher for any
specific allergies that might be in your childs classroom. We ask that you be respectful of
these allergies when sending food and classroom treats to school with your child. We do not
want to put any of our students into potentially hazardous situations. Thank you.

Our Furry Friends

As most of you are aware, Surrey School District policy/bylaws are "no dogs on premises".
While we love our fourlegged friends as much as the next person, we want to remind you
that due to various health & grounds related issues, we are unable to invite or allow your
dogs on our property. Please respect these rules.
