COURSE EXPECTATIONS Functions, Statistics, and Trigonometry (FST)

TEXTBOOK:
Algebra and Trigonometry - Blitzer
CLASSROOM EXPEXTATIONS:
1. Respect your classmates, your teachers, and the property of others.
2. Be in your seat when the bell rings and prepared for class every day.
3. Cell phones and all other electronic devices must be turned OFF and put
away upon entering the classroom.
SUPPLIES:
- Notebook: Every student is expected to have a 3-ring binder.
- Suggested sections are: Warm-ups, Notes, Self-Assessments,
Homework, and Tests/Quizzes
- Paper and Pencil each day.
- Graphing Calculator (TI-83 Plus)
- Textbook each day
TARDIES:
- I will follow the school-wide tardy policy.
WARM-UPS:
- Almost daily you will receive a warm-up that you can complete with your
partner and no other resources. Most days this will be collected and graded.
- These will count towards your formative grade.
- If you miss a warm-up it does not need to be made up.
PARTICIPATION:
- Participation is expected of all students and is essential to being successful
in this class.
- You should never feel afraid to ask a question or fear being wrong in this
classrooms.
ABSENCES:
- If you are absent then please check the Absent Work Folders to see what
you have missed. It is YOUR responsibility to get the assignments and notes
you have missed.
TESTS/QUIZZES:
- There will be a test given after every unit.
- There will be 1-3 quizzes per unit, depending on the length of the unit.
- Tests and quizzes will be made up before school, after school, or during
Cougar Hour. They are not given during class.
- You are responsible for making arrangements for make-ups.
- You will only be allowed to make-up work from EXCUSED absences, no
credit will be given for make-up work for classes missed due to
unexcused absences.
- Excused or unexcused absences will be determined by Skyward.
- Tests will be part of your summative grade. Quizzes, unless otherwise
stated, will be part of your formative grade.

HOMEWORK:
- The goal of homework is to practice concepts in order to improve
and gain understanding, not to simply complete in order to get
points. If you really do your homework and correct your mistakes,
you will do better on tests and quizzes.
- You should expect to get homework every night in order to practice
what we did in class that day.
- Homework will be checked in at the beginning of the hour every day
- If you have attempted ALL of the assigned problems with work
shown, you will receive a V.
- If you are missing ANY of the assigned problems OR all work is
not shown, you will receive an incomplete or inc.
- If you have not attempted any or very few of the homework
problems OR if no work is shown, you will receive a missing or
mis.
- This grade will be entered into Skyward, but will NOT count towards
your formative or summative grade. This is just an indication of your
effort.
- Occasionally, homework will be collected and graded for correct
answers.
- This will count towards your formative grade.
- No late homework will be accepted. If your homework is not on your
desk at the beginning of the hour when the bell rings, then it is
considered late. No passes will be given to get homework from your
locker.
GRADING:
- Your grade consists of two parts:
- 70% of your grade will come from summative assessments: Unit tests
and projects.
- 30% of your grade will come from formative assessments: Warm-ups,
homework, and quizzes.
- At the end of the semester, final grades will be calculated as follows:

EXTRA HELP:
- I am more than happy to provide extra help to anyone who needs it!
- I am available after school most days and during Cougar hour, just talk with
me to arrange a time that works best for you.

REMIND 101:
-Remind 101 is a phone application (that can also be used over text and
email) that will allow me to send out classroom reminders. I will sent out messages
to parents/guardians and students of upcoming tests/quizzes, due dates, and other
important information.

Android phone, open your web browser and go to the following link:

- Follow the instructions to sign up for Remind. You will be
prompted to download the free mobile app.

- This website acts as an additional resource for you.
- Calendar: The calendar will have what we did in class that day, what the
homework assignments are, when tests/quizzes are, and when assignments
are due.
- Remind 101: Information about how to sign up for the reminds. The website
will also have an up to date record of all the reminds that have been sent out
- Unit Tabs: Under each unit, I will post any handouts that have been given
out in class: Homework (if its not from the book), homework answer keys,
blank note sheets, and quiz and test reviews with answer keys.
