MACHAKOS SENIOR GOVERNMENT OFFICERS TO WORK SIX DAYS A WEEK

I have today instructed that all senior Machakos Government officials starting with myself, ministers, chief
officers, directors and their deputies and heads of department, should from next week work six days a week so
as to effectively supervise and implement development projects.
This "Turbo Maendeleo Chap Chap" method will run up to end of December, 2016 where it will be reviewed and
tweaked. All senior officers should spend a minimum of three days on the field supervising projects and
listening to the needs of Wananchi. Ministers are to meet senior staff for a briefing meeting a minimum of once
a week. Heads of departments will also hold meetings with junior staff a minimum of once a week to
communicate the department's agenda.
The Maendeleo Chap Chap paradigm is RESULTS based and not PROCESS based. It is about water getting
to a home, not paperwork just done and plans made. Plans and processes should bear fruit that improves the
lives of Wananchi.
In the next two weeks, Perfomance contracts will be signed by senior officers.
To induct them into this new way of thinking and working, today, I toured Mlolongo and Syokimau with all my
ministers, chief officers, directors etc. We walked from the start of Machakos County at KAPA in Syokimau to
the Free and Clean Maendeleo Chap Chap toilet at Mlolongo,a distance of about 4.5Kms.
We also made several stops on the way to Machakos.
We have agreed on several works:
1. Sheds for both Boda Boda drivers and Mama Mboga workers
2. Opening up of drainage systems
3. Lighting and CCTV to improve security
4. New sewer system for Mlolongo area
5. Removal plan of lorries at Mlolongo that block the roads
6. Additional toilets for Wananachi
7. Speeding up the ongoing construction of Syokimau roads.
We will be moving to other parts of the County as we implement the development agenda that Wananchi
employed us for.
