IDENTITY

Students will understand the multiple facets

of their identities, know where those traits
come from, and feel comfortable being
themselves in a diversity of settings.

DIVERSITY

Students will recognize the diversity of

people in the world, be able to identify
dierences and commonalities, express
interest in the lived experiences of others
and develop genuine connections with
others.

SOCIAL JUSTICE

Students will be aware of bias and injustice,

both individual and systemic, will understand
the short and long-term impact of injustice,
and will know about those who have fought
for more fairness and justice in our world.

ACTION

Students will feel confident that they can

make a dierence in society and will commit
to taking action against bias and injustice
even when it is not popular or easy.

Life is a series of small moments filled

with action and emotion. When
something unjust happens, will we watch
as a bystander or react as an ally?

During this project students will study

the actions of historical and present-day
advocates through oral story-telling and
texts. They will hear and read stories of
those that have been victim of prejudice
and social injustices. Students will write
their own stories of small moments of
injustice while breaking down statistics
that corroborate the inequities within our
society. Their writing piece will close
with a call for justice. In addition,
students will use art as a medium to
express their own identities and cultures,
painting a mural as a call to action.

Los estudiantes comprendern las mltiples

facetas de su identidad, saber dnde esos
rasgos vienen, y se sientan cmodos siendo
ellos mismos en una diversidad de
configuraciones.

Los estudiantes reconocen la diversidad de

personas en el mundo, ellos podran
identificar las diferencias y puntos en
comn, expresar su inters en las
experiencias de vida de los dems y
desarrollar conexiones genuinas con los
dems.

JUSTICIA SOCIAL

Los estudiantes se consientisarn de los

prejuicios y la injusticia, tanto individual
como sistemtico, van a entender el impacto
a corto y largo plazo de la injusticia, y
aprendern de las personas que han
luchado por ms equidad y justicia en
nuestro mundo.

Pequeos Momentos
La vida es una serie de pequeos
momentos llenos de accin y emocin.
Cuando sucede algo injusto, vamos a ver
como un espectador o un aliado puede
reaccionar en una situacin asi?

Durante este proyecto se estudiarn las

acciones de los defensores histricos y
actuales a travs de relato oral y textos.
Ellos escucharn y leern historias de
aquellos que han sido vctima de los
prejuicios y las injusticias sociales. Los
estudiantes escribirn sus propias
historias de pequeos momentos de
injusticia, mientras estudian estadsticas
que corroboran las desigualdades dentro
de nuestra sociedad. Su pieza de escritura
se cerrar con un llamado a la justicia.
Adems, los estudiantes utilizarn el arte
como un medio para expresar sus propias
identidades y culturas, mientras que
aprender y respetar a los dems.
