SENIOR PROJECT PROPOSAL

NAME:

Elaina Adams

1. Description of Project: What will your project will look like? In no

more than three paragraphs, describe your project and its purpose.
For my senior project, I am going to learn how to do special effects makeup. There are some
events such as the EVPL Christmas parade, Eville Studios, and DAlto Studio of Preforming arts
theatre performances that I will have the opportunity to perform the skills I learn at. DAlto Studio of
Preforming arts has private lessons to learn/practice special effects makeup so I will be taking classes
there to further my abilities.

2. Prior Knowledge: List below previous knowledge acquired about the project,
tasks already completed, and materials or sources procured.
At DAlto I have done makeup for many theatre productions. Last
year around October I did make up for the SpellBound Ball at USI. I
worked with Phillip Seitz who is in charge of Eville studios, a local
Evansville haunted house.

3. Proposed Mentor: Whom have you asked to be your mentor and why? Is this
person willing to sign the mentor contract and also provide proof of completion documentation
to the teacher at the end of the project?
I have asked Amelia Madi to be my mentor. She is the head of the makeup/special effects
at DAlto Studios. I have known her since I was in 7th grade. I think she can teach me a lot about
makeup because I have seen a lot of her work and she is phenomenal! Yes, Amelia is willing to
sign the mentor contract and also provide proof of completion documentation to my teacher at
the end of this project.

4. Task Analysis: After talking with your mentor, develop a timeline that lists all the tasks
you must complete in order to finalize your project by the due date. The timeline should include
anticipated completion dates for each task. If you are raising money for a charity, you must indicate
how you will handle the money you collect. For any fundraising at North, you must create an
account at the bookstore.
Take private classes once a week.
Work on the EVPL float committee.

5. Costs & Materials: After conferring with your mentor, you should research all
materials and costs needed to complete your project successfully.
List the materials and costs for each item.
The materials will come based on what I need them for. In classes, materials will be provided.
Makeup can be on the expensive side, Amelia tells me, so I should have my work cut out for me.
Where did you get your information regarding costs?
Amelia Madi

6. Stretch for learning: Make a claim about how this project is a stretch for your
learning. Then, support your claim with at least three reasons. Make sure your reasons are explained
thoroughly.

Learning how to be a special effects makeup artist will stretch my learning. I am involved in a lot of
productions so by doing makeup, I can still play an active role in the productions I was unable to be
part of. In show business, you really have to get your name out there. By having as many skills as
possible, you will be involved in a lot more. People really admire all sorts of talents. Also, people
will pay money for special effects makeup if you are really good. I know a lot of local producers who
are in need of artists.
