willtakethoseideasandmakeapaintingthatrepresentswhotheyareandwhattheylike.Wewillprovide
examplesofselfportraitsfromarthistoryandourownpersonalpaintingsasmotivationforthestudents.
Clothingdesign/fibers:InthesecondlessonstudentswilltakeafieldtriptoalocalTShirt/Merchandise
printshopandwillseetheirpaintingsfromthelastlessonprintedontothebackoftshirtssothattheycan
exploretheprocessofhowclothesaremade.Afterourfieldtripthestudentswilltaketheirtshirtsanduse
demodtechniquestodecoratethefrontoftheirshirtwithfabricpaintsinordertofurtherexpresstheir
ideasoftheiridentity.Wewillusethefieldtripexperienceandthemerchandiseintheshopasour
motivationforthestudentstobuildunderstandingoftechniques.Demoswillalsoserveasmotivation.
Pottery:Inourthirdlesson,studentswillcreateaseriesoffunctionalceramicobjects.Thesecould
include:bowls,plates,cups,mugs,spoons,etc.Studentswillexploretheideaoffunctionalobjectsand
brainstormhowtomakethemmoreinterestingasmotivation.Studentswillexplorefunction,design,and
inspirationinthislesson.Theirceramicobjectswillbeinspiredbytheirpersonalidentitybymakingeach
objectspecificallyfortheirfavoritefood/meal/drink.
Invitation(TechnologyDays):Forourfinallesson,thestudentswillbeintroducedtotechnologyasa
formofart.Thestudentswillhavetheoptiontodesignanelectronicartinvitationaswellasphoto
invitationoravideoinvitation.Theseinvitationswillshowcasethestudentandthearttheyhavecreatedin
pastlessonsandwillserveasawaytomaketheirfamiliesawareofthestudentartexhibitionthatwillbe
comingupinthecomingweek.Thestudentswillbedisplayingtheiridentitythroughtheirartthatthey
havecreatedinpastlessons,andthroughtheseinvitationswillbeexploringnewformsofartthrough
technology.
