Morally Responsible Teacher
What are some qualities of a Morally Responsible Teacher?
I believe that a good teacher must be a steward. A teacher must lead by example
in order to get the students to be the best people they can be. Having a good connection
with students is also a valuable asset to being a morally responsible teacher. This allows
students to not only trust their teachers, but also makes them want to try harder due to not
wanting to disappoint their teacher.
How do the MRT qualities connect to the four moral dimensions?
The first moral dimension that ties to being a morally responsible teacher is
Stewardship. This means to be a steward for your students. It involves being resourceful,
well planned, and just having overall responsibility for not only your classroom but
school as well. The second moral dimension is nurturing pedagogy. This includes
providing a caring and welcoming environment for your students. This gives them a
strong connection to the student.
Personal Teaching Interests:
I wish to teach social sciences at the high school level. I would like to focus more
on History and Psychology as my main fields.
Instructional Strategy #1:

This semester I participated in Service Learning Project. This was a good

instructional strategy because it put you into an environment in which you get to be a part
of something bigger than yourself. My SLP was in KCLC at Park Elementary. It was an
awesome thing to see how happy the students were when youd play a game with them or
helped them understand a problem on their homework assignment.
Instructional Strategy #2:
We are working on a Policy Project in groups. I believe this is a good strategy to
use because it teaches you how to work with your peers. It gives you a chance to find out
your fellow students views on some important issues and find a way to reach a solution.

What is the main purpose of education?

To use Goodlands Goals for Schooling I believe that learning to become a better
Moral and Ethical character is very important. While in school you should not only learn
the material, but also how to be a good, contributing, and ethical member of society.

What are some thoughts or insights that a morally responsible teacher might have
about your particular policy project topic?
I think that a morally responsible would agree with our groups thesis. We believe
that there should be a reform on school lunches. Over the past decade, childhood obesity
has skyrocketed. It has become a real problem in the U.S. and can lead to future heart
problems.
