UNIT PLAN- GRADE 1 December

3 Lessons
Generative Topic: In this month, students will be getting excited about the winter holidays coming up,
and will therefore be a little more active and excited than normal. Therefore, I think it is important to
incorporate that excitement into their regular day to day classes. I will therefore be planning to use
student enthusiasm to create my various lessons by planning songs, games, and activities that relate to
the holidays and snow while still maintaining a focus on the requirements in the program of study.
Unit Title: Winter and Holidays
Big Idea: By the end of this unit, students will understand how to accompany simple melodies using
instruments
Essential Questions:

1. How does music reflect my feelings about the holidays?


2. How could I create a conversation using my voice?
3. How can I use instruments to accompany my songs?
Concepts Taught:
