SAFETY PRECAUTIONS
Safety s everybody s busness and s based on your used of good common sense. All
stuatons or crcumstances cannot always be predcted and covered by establshed rules.
Therefore, use your past experence, watch out for safety hazards and be cautous. Some
general safety precautons are as follows:

DANGER
Falure to observe these notces could result n njury to or death of personnel.

Keep fngers and clothng away from blower nlet and dscharge ports,
revolvng belts, sheaves, pulleys, etc.

Do not use the ar dscharge form ths unt for breathng not sutable
for human consumpton.

Do not loosen or remove the ol fller plug, dran plugs, covers, or break
any connecton, etc., n the blower ar or ol system untl the unt s shut
down and the ar pressure has been releved.

Electrcal shock can and may be fatal.

Blower unt must be grounded n accordance wth the Local Electrcal

Code. A ground jumper equal to the sze of the equpment ground
conductor must be used to connect the blower motor base to the unt
base.

Open man dsconnect swtch, tag and lockout before workng on the
control.

Dsconnect the blower unt from ts power source, tag and lockout
before workng on the unt the equpment may be automatcally
controlled and may start at any tme.

WARNING
Falure to observe these notces could result n damage to equpment.

Stop the unt f any repars or adjustments on or around the blower are
requred.

Dsconnect the blower unt from ts power source, tag and lockout
before workng on the unt the equpment may be automatcally
controlled and may start at any tme.

Do not exceed the desgn speed.

Do not operate unt f safety devces are not operatng properly. Check
perodcally. Never bypass safety devces.

INSTALLATION
1.

If possble, nstall the blower n a well-lt, clean, dry place wth plenty of room for
nspecton and mantenance.

2.

The temperature of blower room should be mantaned at not hgher than 40 C. In order
to avod premature falure to blower and motor a sutable ventlaton fan should be
nstalled at the room.

3.

For permanent nstallatons concrete foundatons should be provded. The blower must
be leveled.

WARNING

NOTICE

WARNING

Customers are cautoned to provde adequate

protecton, warnng and safety equpment necessary to
protect personnel aganst hazards nvolved n the
nstallaton and operaton of ths equpment n the
systems or faclty.

If the unt s not flat, t wll be necessary to shm the

blower feet at nstallaton.

Over tghtenng of belt tenson leads to heavy bearng

loads and premature falure

PIPING
1.

Sucton and dscharge connectons on all blowers should be large enough to handle
maxmum volume wth mnmum frcton loss.

2.

The materal of ppng and fttngs should be of steel.

3.

Excessve weght of ppng and fttngs wll cause nternal msalgnment and premature
wear. Never allow the blower to carry the weght of the ppe. If possble a flexble jont
should be nstalled between the unt and the ppng. Where a flexble jont s not practcal,
the weght of the rgd connecton must be separately supported.

4.

All system ppng must be cleaned nternally before connectng to the blower.

5.

Install a check valve at the dscharge of the blower.

CAUTION

Issue 09.04

Do not operate the unt wth dscharge valve shut off.

ELECTRICAL
1.

Install electrcal wrng of motor accordng to the local electrcal authorty s requrements
and local electrcal codes.

2.

Motor should have an overload protecton crcut.

3.

Before startng, jog motor to determne correct rotaton. Refer to drectonal arrow on
blower (clockwse as vewed through pulley sde).

DANGER

Blower unt must be grounded n accordance wth the

Local Electrcal Code. Electrcal shock can and may be
fatal.

STARTUP CHECKLIST
1.

Before startng under power, the blower should be turned over by hand to make certan
there s no bndng or nternal contact.

2.

Check the unt and all ppng for foregn materal and clean f requred.

3.

All connectons are properly fastened.

4.

All valves are fully opened.

5.

Electrcal wrng s properly connected.

6.

Belt drves must be carefully algned. Motor and blower pulleys must be parallel to each
other and n the same plane.

7.

Belt tenson should be carefully adjusted and belts tghtened only enough to prevent
slppage.

8.

After the runnng-n perod of about a week, the belt tenson should be checked and readjusted f requred.

9.

Ensure the drecton of rotaton s correct.

10. Safety valve should be tested at the ntal startup to be sure t s adjusted to releve at the
maxmum pressure dfferental ratng of the blower by 1.1~1.5 tmes the normally
operatng pressure.
11. Check the unt for proper lubrcaton. Ensure proper ol level of both ol gauges .e. at the
centrelne of the ol gauge whle the blower s not n operaton. Shell OMALA 150~220 or
equvalent grade of lubrcatng ol s recommended. The lubrcatng ol should be changed
after the runnng-n perod of one month. Thereafter, the ol should be changed every
three months nterval.

CAUTION

CAUTION

NOTICE

Issue 09.04

Do not overfll wth gear ol as ths wll tend to cause

excessve heatng of the gears and bearngs and may
damage the unt. Ensure proper ol level should be at
the centrelne of ol gauges when the blower s not n
operaton.

Rotatng components wll cause severe njury n case of

personal contact. Keep hands away from blower nlet
and dscharge ports.

Ensure that the drecton of rotaton s correct.

Ensure proper grade of gear ol s used.

Safety valves should be placed as close as possble to

the blower dscharge. It should be tested and adjusted
at the ntal startup and adjusted thereafter.
