Course outline
The course is designed to familiarize the students with the basic principles of heat transfer
mechanisms and applications. Students will learn in detail the basic concepts of heat transfer,
conduction, convection and radiation, types of heat exchangers, their analysis and selection,
basics of condensation and boiling, basics of fluid flow, natural and forced convection, black
body radiation, radiation intensity and properties, atmospheric and solar radiation, types of
boilers and their components, waste heat recovery boilers and HRSG etc.
