AL510311 Guidelines for presentation of articles/chapters/cases

Develop a Word document (max 2 pages) and a PowerPoint presentation as the basis
for your presentations and send it to us by e-mail at the latest 12:00 pm the Friday
before the presentation. Mail-to: haso@ntnu.no and guma@ntnu.no
The time allocated to each article (or assignment) is about 15 minutes and then about
10 minutes class discussion. All members of the presenting group must take an active
part. However, you are strongly encouraged to do something else and more than
merely reading from transparencies. It is smart to think through the division of tasks
among group members beforehand, and you may want to rehearse the presentation for
improved performance.
The presentation will be evaluated on the following aspects (see rating scale below):
Presentation of the main content (if applicable):
The main purpose of the study
How were the research questions or approach developed? Relationship to
previous theory/research findings
Theory/hypotheses
Method of collecting data, implementing interventions or evaluation
Main findings and conclusions
Critique and discussion:
Your contribution! (at least 1/3 of the time should be devoted to this part)
An assessment of what was particularly useful or interesting. What have you
learned which you did not know from before? How important are the findings?
Do the research findings support or contribute to major theories in the field?
What do the findings contribute in terms of the research area?
How is the study connected to other parts of the course material or at least to
previous lecture material?
Does the study have relevance for practical application? If relevant, provide
examples from actual practice, anecdotes or hypothetical situations to which
this knowledge may be applied
Your evaluation of the methodological strengths and weaknesses of the study
Presentation style:
Structure of presentation, transition from one presenter to another, how time is
divided between group members
Communication. Interaction with audience as well as responsiveness to
questions
Use of presentation resources (PPT, Fronter, etc.)
Discussion questions:
Develop 1-2 discussion question based on the article for class discussion
Question(s) should generate interesting and relevant discussion
Presentations will be rated on the rating scale: passed not passed.
