Duterte's victory is a manifestation of the Filipinos inability to
discipline himself. (PRO)
In todays time, Filipinos are always posting their claims and insights in
social networking sites about how poor the governance in their country is that
problems are arising one after the other. They protest that they are sick and tired
of the status quo and the current situation. They also said that they want change
and eradicate the corruption and crimes in the Philippines, yet did they know
their solid reason as to why they want change? According to Rappler and
Philstar, the poverty rate in the Philippines is around 25 %, which is of the
total population and with accordance to this fact, the unemployment rate that
should be decreasing as of last year is still increasing in unison of the 46% crime
rate last August of 2015. This can be the main cause on why Filipinos voted for
President Duterte, and as expected of the new administration, those problems
that are stated a while ago is being solved one by one. The new administration
gave the Filipinos a solid proof of their capabilities by forcing 500 drug addicts
surrendered to the national police at the first week of President Dutertes
leadership, however, those problems that are stated above can necessarily be
avoided if and only if Filipinos are more lenient in terms of disciplining their
selves. Problems arises because there is a root behind all of them, thus it is not
just entirely the fault of the past government that the Philippines is in this
corrupt state as of now. An Economy is made up of its citizens and those citizens
should be disciplined enough in taking responsibilities in building and developing
their own country.
The main problem in the Philippines is mainly not the government itself,
but the people who lives within it. They forgot what real discipline is and now in a
state of chaos and confusion. People are failing to learn about and consider the
true causes of corruption and they are literally stuck in a static way of thinking
that those in the government are only the corrupt ones and should be blame for
the poor state the country is in now. Not noticing the fact that they are partially
responsible for what is happening in their country for they are not disciplined
enough. If Filipinos will continue their pseudo act of discipline, more crimes will
be committed, because for the past years, according to Rappler and Interaksyon
TV, car accidents, jaywalking, beating the red light and more undisciplined
actions are steadily increasing before the time of President Duterte and it is
enough evidence for the Filipinos not to put all the blame in the government
itself. Yet this can also be the reason why Filipinos are eager for change in this
country, besides of the fact that CHANGE IS LONG OVERDUE in the Philippines.
Millions of Filipinos have been crying out loud because of the palpable effects of
corruption, poor justice, poverty, street crimes, traffic, and more. Therefore, no
one can blame them for electing a President that they know that could turn the

tides upside-down in favor for them, however, they must not forget the fact that
they are responsible too for what happened in their country.
These kinds of things are not only happening in the Philippines, but also
for other countries around the world. People have discipline in their selves, but it
is not yet complete, therefore, people are inclined to vote for someone to lead
them, even if it means that they will lose some of their freedom and rights in the
process. President Dutertes victory can be either a manifestation of that
situation or a miraculous cure for the half-baked undisciplined nature of the
Filipinos; however, none of these claims can be proven to be true or false. It is
only that it is sure enough that one of these claims is the reason for the other.
The Philippines went on a period of self - destruction through the hands of the
corrupt officials that governed it in the past, as what Filipinos had been aware of
through the course of years and it might be the sole reason on why this country
and its citizens wanted change that bad. However, there are still lingering
thoughts and opinions that it is the Filipinos incapability, indecisiveness and
fault on why their country is in this state as of now. The truth is hiding in the
shadows of each persons perspective, as such either of these claims will varies
person by person and each one of them will take a stand. The remaining
question is whose reality and truth will prevail in the end?!
