DIEGESIS OR ARGUMENT:

It is the telling of a story by a narrator who summarizes events in the plot and
comments on the conversations, thoughts, etc., of the characters.
It also refers to the sphere or world in which these narrated events and other
elements occur. The argument or diegesis should answer the question: what is
this story about?
PLOT
Plot is a literary term used to describe the events that make up a story or the main
part of a story. These events relate to each other in a pattern or a sequence. The
structure of a novel depends on the organization of events in the plot of the story.
Plot is known as the foundation of a novel or story which the characters and
settings are built around. It is meant to organize information and events in a logical
manner
There are five main elements in a plot:

Exposition or the introduction: This is known as the beginning of

the story where characters and setting are established. The conflict or

main problem is introduced as well

Rising action: which occurs when a series of events build up to the
conflict. The main characters are established by the time the rising
action of a plot occurs and at the same time, events begin to get
complicated. It is during this part of a story that excitement, tension or
crisis is encountered.

Climax or the main point of the plot: This is the turning point of the
story and is meant to be the moment of highest interest and emotion.
The reader wonders what is going to happen next.

Falling action or the winding up of the story. Events and

complications begin to resolve and the result of actions of the main

characters are put forward.

Resolution or the conclusion. It is the end of a story and ends with
either a happy or a tragic ending.

NARRATOR
Narrator, one who tells a story. In a work of fiction, the narrator determines the
storys point of view. If the narrator is a full participant in the storys action, the
narrative is said to be in the first person. A story told by a narrator who is not a
character in the story is a third-person narrative.
We are going to consider three kinds of narrator:
The omniscient narrator (also known as extradiegetic because it is
outside of the story) is the one that controls everything in the story
because he knows everything and everybody. This narrator uses de
third person point of view.
The character narrator tells his own story (also known as
intradiegetic because it is inside the story), and in order to do it uses
the first person point of view
The witness narrator is a role played by a character who tells the
story in the third person (he isnt the protagonist) and has the point of
view of someone who has witnessed it either from the inside or from
the outside

FUNCTION OF POINT OF VIEW.

Point of view is an integral tool of description in the authors hands to portray
personal emotions or characters feelings about an experience or situation. Writers
use a point of view to express effectively what they want to convey to their readers.

CHARACTERS
Its a person who appears in a story, book, play, movie, or television show.
Characters are the element that engages the reader because they are responsible
of giving life to the story.
Characterization is the process of creating a character. Major characters must
possess complex personalities to create interest. If the reader can personally
identify with major characters, a story carries added emotional charge. Major
characters have their own motives that drive the action of the story. Conflicts occur
between characters creating situations that demand resolution.
The character could be:
A protagonist is the central character or leading figure in poetry,
narrative, novel or any other story. A protagonist is sometimes called
a hero by the audience or readers.
In literature, an antagonist is a character or a group of characters
which stand in opposition to the protagonist or the main character. It
is common to refer to an antagonist as a villain (the bad guy) against
whom a hero (the good guy) fights in order to relieve himself or
others.
Secondary characters populate your world and help move the story
along. There are two main subclasses of secondary characters;
supporting characters and minor characters. Minor characters exist
primarily for the purpose of making the story more interesting and
relatable because a world without people seems flat and hollow. The
story could still be told without them; it would just be harder.

This classification refers to those characters who exist to help the

ambiance of the story because their absence or presence does not
disturb the main story line. The incidental character intervention in
the story is limited, and they exist to give credibility to the story.

SUMARIZE OF MY KNOWLEDGE ON THIS ACTIVITY:

In this activity I cant say that learn something, and not because the activity
hasnt useful but because this topic is a review for a topic that had already
reviewed in previous semesters.
But to me this topic use to refresh and beef up some information about
narrative elements like what Is a narrative, which are their complements,
types of character and types of narrator, etc.
But there was some information that I didnt knew it like the use of point of
view like a tool for the writers.
I feel that this activity was fun because it wasnt difficult to do and also help
me to be related with my team partners.
