RUBIK'S CUBE BEGINNERs SOLUTION GUIDE

This PDF is a guide for the beginners method that Rubiks Cube Hobby
Group (RCHG) teaches to the participants.
STEP 1: CROSS
The intuitive and logical method of solving the cross will be taught during the
workshop.

STEP 2: BOTTOM LAYER CORNERS

Every algorithm moves a corner from top to bottom right below without
disrupting the cross.
Case 1:

Algorithm is

U L U L

Case 2: Algorithm is

U R U R

Case 3: Algorithm is given below

R U2 R

U L U L

STEP 3: MIDDLE LAYER EDGES

Algorithms are being mentioned here but in the workshop we are going to teach
them the lift mechanism. I mean we dont want them understand solving by
memorizing some algorithm so instead we are will give them logic of lift method
to teach them.

STEP 4: EDGE ORIENTATION

Case 1: The Algorithm we follow is

F (R U R U) F
Case 2: Note: Here f is moving front F along with the middle layer i.e.
consecutive layer to it in clockwise direction.
The Algorithm we follow is

f (R U R U) f
Case 3: Here the algorithm we follow is applying both the above algorithm
consecutively.

STEP 5: CORNER PERMUTATION

Rotate top layer until you find two consecutive pieces that are in their rite
positions (may not be correctly oriented).
If you don't have any two consecutive pieces pair, first apply the algorithm
L U R U L U R U2 to get one pair, and then with that consecutive pairs as
reference apply the algorithm again using the following rules given below.
In the given case 1 and 2 are consecutive pieces and are at their right
positions (not correctly oriented though), 3 and 4 are to exchange their
positions, meaning piece named 3 has to go to position 4 and the piece
named 4 has to go to 3 position, we apply this algorithm to switch the
places of 3 and 4 pieces in the cube.

STEP 6: CORNER ORIENTATION

We will ask the participants to remember only one algorithm with this algorithm
only they can solve all the possible cases.
SUNE -- R U R URRU2
U2RR

Case 1: Only one corner piece correctly oriented

If one of the four corners have yellow on the top of it, then rotate the top layer till
you get the front this corner on bottom left position (when seen from top) as
shown and then apply SUNE till you get yellow on top of all the corner pieces.

a. Apply SUNE Once

b. Apply SUNE Twice

Make sure when you go to apply SUNE for the second time in this case
you have to bring the corner piece with yellow on top (to the bottom left
position).

Case 2: Two corner Pieces correctly oriented

If TWO corners have yellow on top layer, rotate top layer until a yellow sticker is
on the bottom left, facing front (refer to the image given below).
Then apply SUNE, three times.
Make sure that the third time you want to apply SUNE you bring the corner piece
with yellow on top to the bottom left position (when seen from top).

Case 3: Zero Corner Pieces correctly oriented

If ZERO corners are yellow, rotate top layer until a yellow sticker is on the
bottom left, facing left (refer to the image given below).
Then apply SUNE Twice as needed.
Make sure when you have to apply SUNE for the second time that you have
brought the corner piece with yellow on top to the bottom left corner (as
seen from top view).

STEP 7: EDGE PERMUTATION

Rotate top layer until the solved edge is in the back. If you don't have a solved
edge, first apply the algorithm to get one edge in correct position (that means in
that case you would have to apply this algorithm twice to completely solve the
cube).
