7. Terminals as necessary, including for remote stop/start operation and indication,

remote speed control and voltage adjust and remote circuit breaker trip, also terminals
for anti-condensation heater and local supply (separately enclosed and with warning
label). All terminals to be coded in accordance with an approved international
standard.
8. Wiring, as necessary, PVC insulated of not less than 1.5 mm2. copper cross section, to
an approved international standard, with each conductor reference coded at both ends
for identification Green colour to be used for earth circuits only.
9. Interfacing to the SCADA system shall be included.
16.6.23

Bulk Fuel Tanks

Bulk fuel tanks shall be as follows:1. Sufficient quantity to provide approximately seven days operation
2. Manufactured in accordance with an approved international standard and be
fabricated from good commercial quality mild steel plate of minimum 5 mm
thickness, ends dished and flanged, electrically welded throughout and spatter
removed.
3. Provided with a 480 mm diameter raised manhole with joint and 8 mm thick bolted on
cover.
4. Provided with galvanised access ladder and platform to manhole
5. BSTP connections shall be provided for fill, vent, outlet and drain.
6. Receive approved corrosion protection appropriate to its location.
7. Materials for pipes and fittings shall be to an approved international standard for
identical application and GI pipes and fittings shall not be acceptable.
8. Overground fuel tank shall be housed inside a suitable shade for effective protection

from direct sun and as detailed in the drawing for the project
16.6.24

Fuel Transfer Pumps

Electric fuel transfer pumps, if necessary shall be of the progressive cavity type, self
priming and capable of achieving a suction lift of at least 7 metres. They shall be capable
of pumping approximately 400 litres of diesel fuel per hour from the bulk fuel tank to the
day tank. Two number shall be provided for each installation located immediately below
the day tank. They shall operate in an automatic duty/standby mode with automatic
interchange of duty to equalise wear. All fuel transfer pumps, for both day-tank and bulktank, shall have proper dry run protection and pump control shall be with necessary float
regulators suitable for fixing inside fuel tanks and compliant to international safety
regulations for identical application.

Manual fuel transfer pumps shall be of the self priming diaphragm type with detachable
handle arranged to pump diesel fuel from the bulk fuel tank to the day tank.
Provision shall also be made to pump fuel from the day tank to the bulk fuel tank to
empty the day tank for maintenance purposes.
16.6.25

Fuel System
The fuel system shall comprise the following:Fuel transfer pumps controlled by a float type level switch in the day tank.
Overflow back to the bulk fuel tank to be provided to guard against float switch failure.
Mesh type filters not coarser than 120 mesh to be provided on the draw-off line.
Free-fall fire shut-off valves to be fitted operated from the local fire alarm system (where
applicable) or a wire rope and heat sensitive fusible link.
Daily service tank to accommodate fuel for 12 hours running at full load.
Fuel supply piping system to be in suitably sized copper tubing.

16.6.26

Enclosure
Generators shall be nomally housed in purpoes-built structure with proper sand trap
louvres of adequate size.
Generator house shall have suitable overhead crane / hoist
Where purpsebuilt GRP enclosure is specified it shall be compliant to the GRP
fabrication details as decribed elsewhere.
Protection against the ingress of dust and moisture shall be to an approved international
standard and is applicable to any type of generator enclosure
Provide ample access for maintenance by way of hinged and removable covers if GRP
enclosure is installed.
Controls, indication etc. to be enclosed in an integral panel with a polycarbonate hinged
clear cover.
Small power & lighting system for Generator house shall be compliant to general
requirements for Lighting Installations detailed under Electrical Section of the
specification.
