Objective
The goal of this course is physically active and healthy lifestyles for all students. The
objective is to provide students with planned and balanced programming to develop the
knowledge, skills, and attitudes for physically active and lifelong healthy lifestyles.

Designing Your Course


Students will learn how to design and implement a personal fitness plan that includes
weight training. Students will draft an outline of their fitness plan and then work with
their teacher and peers to finalize their outline. All students will also have to complete 4
health modules; fitness management, mental-emotional health, impact of sport and
substance abuse prevention. Students will also complete units of activity using Fitbits
and heartrate monitors.

Evaluation
This course will not be graded; instead students will receive a complete or incomplete
designation. To complete the course students will have to fulfill the following
requirements:

Develop and utilize a personal fitness plan


Complete 4 health units
Change and participate on a daily basis meeting the following outcomes:

Demonstrate the ability to access and use information for making informed
decisions about safety and risk management related to physical activity
participation
Apply movement skills and concepts in selected physical activities that meet the
goals of a personal physical activity plan
Participate in physical activities at a moderate to vigorous intensity level

Record and report the frequency, intensity, time, and type of the physical
activities, as indicated in the personal physical activity plan, and reflect on
physical activity participation
Evaluate the benefits of selected types of physical activities in the development of
fitness and in the prevention of disease at various stages of life
Examine factors that have an impact on the development and implementation of
and adherence to a personal physical activity plan
Examine and evaluate factors that affect fitness and activity choices
Demonstrate an understanding of the concepts and principles related to the
development and implementation of a personal physical activity plan Examples:
cardiorespiratory endurance/aerobic fitness, musculoskeletal fitness, training
principles, FITT (frequency, intensity, time, type) principle
Design, implement, evaluate, and revise an exercise routine that contributes to the
health-related fitness components. Examples: resistance training, walking,
running programs
