Social rejection

By : Pattraporn Kheerinpharadorn
Almost every person desires to be a social compatibility within a group of society. Up
until now, humans are trying adapt themselves fitting in a society by conduct well-behaved.
Sometimes, they unsuitable belong to that society because of their whimsical appearances or
even thoughts. However, in some cases, the majority may accept only their peers and have
narrow interests of others. Therefore, this action results the society rejection. The issue leads
a person to either has a violent thought or act harmfully toward a society because of his or her
great pressures. In Mary Shellys Frankenstein (1994), Victor and Monster experienced a
social rejection and it ruins their lives badly because they have fewer choices to tackle the
problem individually.
An offensive judgment of the public brings a disappointed sentiment of a person. In
reality, some individuals have experienced criticism from the society every time whatever
they are doing. It can be an initial state of social rejection because of the hateful. When
people are being judged by others, they definitely feel upset and distress. In particular, the
serious evaluation can easily affect peoples emotion. A finding of Department of Social
Psychology found that the moral judgment possibly leads people to have a negative emotion
such as anger, contempt, and disguise. They claimed that the emotion of humans brain
quickly responses when they have been treated unfairly especially the error of judgment.
In Frankenstein, a monster is condemned by the society and contributes him to sorrow
intensely. It states Monster! ugly wretch! you wish to eat me and tear me to pieces you
are an ogre (p. 102), says a young boy. Because of the monsters terrible creatures, people
in the society are afraid of him. Devil, do you dare approach me? says Victor (p. 68) Even
Victor who creates him looking down on him so, the painful inside the monsters brain takes
place. He always takes every comment of humans into his consideration. A monster mentions

that All men hate the wretched; how then, must I be hated, who am miserable beyond all
living things! Yet you, my creator, detest and spurn me, thy creature, to whom thou art bound
by ties only dissoluble by the annihilation of one of us. (p. 68) This indicates that the
monster is totally morose and begins to revenge back to the creator. His emotion is freak out
and uncontrollable. All of the criticisms oppress him to feel like evil and does not want to live
further. In brief, the assessment of people in society can discourage a persons feeling
undoubtedly.
Being apart from society affects humans brain acting misdeed. In fact, a society
impacts peoples mind either to cheer them up or depress them. People want to continue
living if they encounter with a good environment. Unfortunately, some people do not fit with
others and separate themselves from that place. It might contributes their thoughts to think
gloomy. According to Frankenstein, Victor passionates in natural philosophy and views things
as a darkness because his sense of science is extraordinary. It was thus that I was to be taught
to associate evil with their prosecution, happiness with their disregard, says Victor (p. 23)
He does not get along with his surroundings as he states, I believe myself totally unfitted for
the company of strangers. (p. 25) Then, Victor prefers to live independently and attain his
experiment. His dissociation causes him to lose his cognition and inadvertently committed.
Prior to his completed undertaking, there is nobody escorting him to be awareness. According
to the Education Scotland government, the crimes are often caused by social exclusion
because they cannot able to distinguish the morality by themselves. Even a child could
become a juvenile delinquency affected by their influences such as peers or family.
(Padowitz, 2015) Similarity, he mentions, Life and death appeared to me ideal bounds,
which I should first break through, and pour a torrent of light into our dark world. (p. 32) His
first thought is that his experiment is worthwhile and everyone will worship it. Victor says
How much happier that man is who believes his native town to be the world, than he who

aspires to become greater than his nature will allow. (p. 31) However, his new invention
destroys everyone around him including his familys members. They were all dead, and I
lived; their murderer also lived., says Victor (p. 150) In short, people who are generally
denied by the social group probably cause a trouble to society.
On the other hand, the insightfulness might guide peoples decision to live. Not only
the community shapes humans but also their mentality simply influences their lives.
According to the Christian tradition, people normally have flaws and weaknesses since they
were born like the phrase that says No one is perfect...thats why pencils have erasers.
(Riebe, W) Sometimes, people are hopeless and burdensome even a lucky person, but they
can, some day, find ways to handle the difficulties. In Frankenstein, Victor does not know
how to deal with the problem himself. For example, he mentions Oh! take him away! I
cannot see him; for Gods sake; do not let him enter.(p. 132) Pointing out that Victor is
unwilling to see a monster because he has no way to resolve the issues he has been created.
Victor feels frightening and reluctant to live in this world. I myself was about to sink under
the accumulation of distress. (p. 154) His life appears to be full of adversity that can hardly
overcome. The more he thinks about the mess, the greater worries he has to carry. Besides, a
monster concern about the mistreated of society. He thinks deeply about humans judgment as
he desires to befriend with them. A monster says I am alone, and miserable; man will not
associate with me. (p. 103) He does not accept his personality and tries to take a revenge to
his creator afterward. A monster says I will work at your destruction, nor finish until I
desolate your heart so that you shall curse the hour of your birth. (p. 105) Although his
creator died at the end of the story, he does not satisfy as his thought is completely
overwhelmed. To sum up, the perception inside peoples mind is one of the causes that suffer
people.

To conclude, a society rejection is the main cause of violent because it brings a

painfulness to humans lives both physicality and mentality. The characters in Frankenstein;
however, really upset about their surroundings because of the unfitness. Worst of all, the
notion is an awful factor that tolerates peoples lives over and over again.
