About Thomas Bcker

A pioneer in the field of symphonic video game music, Thomas Bcker has produced award-winning concerts
for major orchestras across the globe. In 2003, he produced the first concert featuring music from video games
outside Japan, the Symphonic Game Music Concert, in Germany, which led to steady performances worldwide. Bcker consulted on the world tours of PLAY! A Video Game Symphony and Distant Worlds: music
from Final Fantasy. Since 2008 he has staged concerts featuring music from Square Enix, Nintendo and more
and has produced several recordings with orchestras in Europe and Asia.
The LSOs performance is absolutely breathtaking.
While it would be all too easy to merely transcribe
the original games music, and then re-arrange it
for non-midi instruments, the arrangers have taken
it a step beyond. Theyve re-imagined the music,
allowing it to stand on its own two feet, so that you
could hear it completely independently of the game,
and still get a sense of scale and journey.

The music of the Final Fantasy video games was

given an enthusiastic response last night after
the London Symphony Orchestra played a special
concert at the Barbican. [...] Principal flautist from
the LSO Gareth Gareth Davies commented on
Twitter: Got to say I was astonished by the final
fantasy audience. They were the most attentive I
have ever played for. Fantastic!
Classic FM

Final Symphony is not only an accomplishment for

video game music, but it is a showcase that music,
any music, can truly be transformed into worlds
that the listener can travel within. Here, images are
more vivid than any video screen can shine from
the projector, and words can never fully comprehend what we feel, the music does that for us.
