September 12-September 16

Hello All,
What a whirlwind week we had in Fourth Grade! Its amazing how having one
day off impacts the whole week. Weve been busy this week learning lots
and having fun. There are SEVERAL new classroom and school items listed
below, so please take time to read through the whole newsletter.
Walk-a-Thon envelopes came home this week. Our class goal is for an
average of $20 per student. Since this is DCESs only fundraiser, we
really want to make a splash and raise as much as we can. If we meet
our goal, we can time at the Lego wall. If you can raise more than
$20, even better!
Dont forget to send in your Scholastic Book Orders. Remember,
ordering books through Scholastic is a wonderful way to get your child
reading, and it is also a great way to support our class. You can send
in a check with your order, or order online at scholastic.com. Our class
code is JRNDM. I will be submitting Septembers book order on Friday,
September 23.
Here is a quick note from Mrs. Marvin, our Project Lead the Way
teacher. Please send in these supplies if you have any around the
house:
PLTW is in need of some household items in order to do several
STEM activities on Fridays. If you have any cardboard tubes (from
paper towels or toilet paper), I would greatly appreciate the
donation! Thanks!!!
Students should be reading at least 20 minutes every evening. Very
few homework assignments are given throughout the week, but this
task is always assigned. Please see to it that your child is setting
aside time to just sit and read.
Please take a look at our classroom website if you havent already. I
update it weekly with new pictures, information, and other exciting
things. You can find it at missdavis4.weebly.com.

Next week is Digital Citizenship week. We will be focusing on ways in

which to be a good digital citizen. We have themed days every day
next week. They are as follows:

9/12 Monday: 3 Ways to Focus on Digital

Citizenship (Students wear sunglasses)
9/13 Tuesday: Digital Citizenship is a Team Effort
(Students wear favorite team/sports gear)
9/14 Wednesday: Your Digital Identity (Twin day
or dress like your favorite emoji)
9/15 Thursday: Be Upstanding (Students wear
silly socks)
9/16 Friday: Rights Remixes and Responsibilities
(Students come as works of art, i.e. a
painting, favorite book, musical performer,
etc.)

As we begin to work toward our 4th grade goals I am excited to share next
weeks standards, upcoming topics, and events with you. Please ask your child
during the week what they have learned, and how they can prove to you that
they are working toward or have mastered the standards we are practicing in
school. Your child should be practicing their multiplication and division facts
nightly. It is imperative that they are fluent in their math facts.
