The International Forest Day would be celebrated on the 21st March 2016.

It views at promoting
awareness regarding the values, importance and contributions that the forests make, in order to
balance the life cycle on the earth.
Shortcut Safaari is a movie that shares similar interest by depicting the importance of Mother
Nature. Current generation is so technology driven that the youth have lost the connect with
nature. The movie promotes the importance of tangibility of nature. What better way to
promote the same other than a Plantation Drive, that lets the children feel the soil and the
breathe the life of a plant. Your esteemed network and enormous reach ill do perfect justice
to this endeavour.
It provides a platform wherein people get to know the importance of the forests. It gives us a way
to let people know on how they could include forests into future climate change strategies.
We at Shortcut Safaari want to create awareness by educating and enlightening the youth
of the country regarding this disconnect with nature. We have always used forests for our
space crunches and taken over natural habitats of so many living beings.
Forests cover almost 30% of the land worldwide. Containing over 60000 plant species, which is
a great resource of food, fuel, fodder, resins, latex, etc. for almost 1.6 billion poor people of the
world. The forest cover in India has increased to 21.34% as of December 2015.
Forests are a home to a wide range of animals and the living beings in the soil as well, such as:
invertebrates, fungi and bacteria that play a significantly important role in maintaining the
balance of nutrients in the soil. Shortcut Safaari highlights how every individual on this
planet be it an ant or an elephant deserves respect and space. Forest is one such space
where organisms and micro organism coexist peacefully.
It provides human beings with shadow, shelter, refreshment, clean air and water. In the present
times, this natural resource is being endangered by deforestation and degradation due to pollution
and excess industrial demands. We have encroached their space and hence our lives are
intersecting. Leopards and monkeys are now entering our human lives and it is not because
of their problem. We have encroached on their space.
Loss of forests would lead to- loss of inhabitant animal species, soil erosion and low rain fall.
This would also lead to an increase in the level of Carbon Dioxide and decrease in the ozone
layer leading to Global Warming. It disrupts the entire ecological cycle.
It is time to put an end to an encroachment of this type. We should now think returning all that
we have taken from the nature. Shortcut Safaari views this Plantation drive on International
World Forest Day as one of the initiatives for the kids so as to infuse in them the importance and
the need for a greener tomorrow.
