The UGC Vibrating Densitometer accurately measures the density of a flowing fluid at actual operating conditions.

This Densitometer was

primarily developed for extremely accurate fluid metering (custody transfer), plus many other applications, such as pipeline interface
detection, blending, process control, etc. The frequency output of the Vibrating Densitometer is compatible with most flow computers.

1. Sealed and shielded source

The density measurement operates

according to the physical law of attenuation of gamma radiation,
which is dependent from the radiation energy, the measuring path
length and the density of the irradiated product. Through keeping the
energy constant and since the measurement takes place in a pipeline,
so the measuring paths length is also constant, the attenuation is
only dependent from the applicable density of the measured product.
The radiation intensity, received from a sealed and shielded source is
measured by a most sensitive scintillation detector and this
measuring signal is then converted to a density or concentration
measurement signal by the corresponding evaluation unit.

The DENSITRAK Model D625 liquid density meter utilizes the spring mass principle for measuring the fluid density. A portion of the "u" tube
is energized to vibrate at its natural resonant frequency by using an electrical feedback driving system. A change in the vibrating mass, (as a
result of change in the fluid density) shifts the resonant frequency. A CSI SPUD signal processing unit for density uses temperature, pressure
and the shift in frequency to determine the density of the measured fluid.
