I want to start this entry for the bulletin with some helpful hints. If
you or a family member has reason to go to the hospital and will be there
for a day or two, I would like to be able to visit and see if there is
anything you need. In order to do that, of course, I need to know that
you are there. With HIPPA rules, the hospital technically cannot let me
know if you are there so with a little help on your part I will be able to
come and give you a visit. OR, if you would like to receive the sacrament
of Anointing of the sick before you go, for example, before an operation,
arrangements can be made for God's grace in that sacrament.
I remember one of the reasons that I wanted to learn the Spanish
language. Back when I first started going to the hospital, there were times
when I would see someone who had a difficult time communicating in
English. I think I also started to learn the value of those visits to you the
faithful who need the presence of God in times of need.
I would also like to take this opportunity to apologize to the
homebound for my procrastination in making regular visits. On the one
hand I could use the excuse that I have 'hit the ground running' and have
found many things that need my attention. I could also admit that I have
not done a good job in programing my agenda to include this important
ministry. I say thank you to the extraordinary ministers of Holy
Communion who have been faithful in fulfilling their place in the
ministry to you who are unable to come to Mass. I ask your patience as I
continue putting things together in planning my weekly and monthly
routines.
