Course Objective

The subject aims to provide the student with understanding of


semiconductor physics. Also they apply this knowledge to design simple
electronic circuitry using semiconductor devices.
ii)

Course Outcomes
After completion of this course the students are expected to be able to demonstrate
following knowledge, skills and attitudes
The student will be able to:
1. Understand the concept of semiconductor, drift and diffusion current. They will have
an idea of electronic testing & measuring instruments as well as basic electrical
components. (L1)
2. Draw and explain Fermi level, energy band diagrams, circuits of diode and transistors.
(L2)
3.

Identify and study the I-V characteristics of PN junction diode, zener diode, varactor
diode. (L2)
