CHAPTER II
REVIEW OF RELATED LITERATURE AND STUDIES
This chapter presents the related foreign and local literature and studies
relevant to the present study.
According to Braid as cited by Lawas (2006),a study of factors that
influence student performance concluded that the traditional factors such as
teachers salaries, per student expenditures and class size had no impact on
school performance. Instead, the crucial elements are parental control,
strong leadership, well defined mission and vision and the degree of freedom
and support offered to the teachers.

Ferro as cited by Uligan (2006), in her study Academic Performance of

Children and Teaching Comptencies of Teachers in English in Selected Public
Schools in Cainta Rizal. Administrative support must be extended to teachers
for professional growth such as sending them to seminars and workshops,
encouraging them for scholarship grants.

The findings implies that the teacherss performance has great bearing on
the pupils performance. This could also denote that the academic
achievement of the pupils depends on how the teacher disseminates his/her
lessons inside the classroom
