B. Find the center of mass of the point masses lying on the x-axis with the
following data:
m1 12, m2 1, m3 6, m4 3, m5 11 and x1 6, x2 4, x3 2, x4 0, x5 8 . Illustrate in
the real number line. (4 points)
C. Find the centroid of the 5-cm rod whose linear density at a point x cm from one
end is 3x 2 g/cm. (5 points)
D. Solve for the coordinates of the centroid of the region bounded by x y 2 , x y 2
and the x axis. See Figure 1. (5 points)
E. Consider the region bounded by y 2 x 2 and y x . See Figure 2. Generate a
solid of revolution by revolving the region about the indicated line. Then, Set-up
the definite integral to determine its volume. Use both slicing and shell method.
