1.0 Purpose
This document proposes a plan to develop a mobile application that is meant to assist
anyone who has problem in finding any lecturer office, lecture room and lab within
FTMK.
2.0 Project Description
Study finds that the most of the reason given by student or lecturer when they are late
to their class is no other than losing direction. While it can be truth or lie, but it is
considered a concern about affecting effectiveness and proficiency of staff and student.
This issue is mainly due to the huge size of FTMK and not to mention that the building
architecture is quite confusing and complicated. In the meantime, the signboards at the
hallways of FTMK obviously do not help much. This issue should be solved as soon as
possible. Precious time of student or lecturer must be taken seriously. If faculty doesnt
take the initiative, our group believe that we can and would like try out something. Thus,
our group is going to propose the title of FTMK Navigation Mobile Apps. This project
is to develop a modern mobile application that user can interact with and help user to
obtain the necessary information of desire location within FTMK faculty.
What can be expected of this application is an offline, no login required and fully
functional mobile application. This is to minimize the difficulty of user when they
interact with the application. When main screen is loaded, the user can simply dive into
several sections, such as labs, lecture rooms, lecturer offices and others. There are two
searching function prepared for users convenience, which are searching location or
lecturer. With searching location, user will get searched result based on given keyword. A
picture of an interactive map will be provided and which floor of the location is listed.
With searching lecturer, user will also get searched result based on given keyword.
Details of lecturer will be showed and a picture of an interactive map will be provided
and which floor of the location is listed.
With this mobile app, our group believe that we can make a whole difference
experience of getting to a location in FTMK for every user.
3.0 Approach
Our proposed report will began with a Planning phase which the discussion will be
lead by our project manager, Lim Xin Jong where the team are review on the map of
the Faculty of Information Technology and Communication and divide task to each
team member. Second step our team is analysis phase which our System Analyst,
Masturah binti Mohammad Liza will analyst how the flow of this mobile applications
can be related to the real process of how student and lecturer on finding the location
of their desire place. After the flow process of mobile application has been analyse
then the team will gather the requirement needed for the mobile application such as
every lecturer office, lecture room, and lab position into sketch of map and any details
name of the room and lecturer. After complete gather the requirement then the raw
data that has been gather will be convert to digital such as map, lecturer detail and
picture. The next phase is Design which developing the application and compiling the
code by our programmer. After done compiling, the prototype of the mobile
application will be testing for the beta version which will be test to a few user and the
feedback from the user will be noted. Second last step is implementing phase which
implement back the application for the final stage product to be release. Once the
product has been implement and tested, the product will be launched to Google Play
Store which will be ready for other user to download it.
