INTRODUCTION
Bullying continues to be a major concern among students and staffs in
both public schools and private schools. Most recently, this has been the
focus of widespread public attention as a result of several high-profile
incidents (Gulemetova, 2011). Different reports of incidents of bullying
include any of the four considered types of bullying Physical Bullying,
Verbal Bullying, Social Bullying, and the most recent type, Cyber Bullying.
Among these, the most widely to occur and commonly experienced
by the students is the verbal bullying. Being called names or being insulted
at some point in their lives, has been experienced by most of the students.
For instance, in a usual classroom environment, when a student speaks
insults for another student, intentional or not, that is already considered as
verbal bullying.
Moreover, according to the reports of National Center against
bullying, the term verbal bullying does not only include name calling and
insults, but also this includes teasing, intimidation, homophobic or racist
remarks, or verbal abuse. Cromie even stated on his blog Harvard Gazette
that verbal bullying had a great effect as physical or nondomestic sexual
mistreatment. Given those facts, the researchers were intrigued and thus,
they intend to conduct a study to selected Senior High School Students from
Lyceum of the Philippines University-Manila to find out the effects and impact
