<html><head><title>Overview of the phyla in the imperium Eucarya</title></head>
<body style="font-family:Arial;font-size:10pt">
Elisa Rost<br>
<span style="font-size:13pt">Four important classification systems for eukaryote
s are compared. For each phylum, the broadest perception is adopted, as long as
it leaves the taxon monophyletic. Still, some phyla are defined too narrowly. En
tamoebozoa and Pelomyxozoa should in fact be treated as belonging to the same cl
ass (!), and some phyla in kingdom Corticatida might be combined (e.g. Phaeodare
a-Ebriozoa, or Xenophyophora-Granuloreticulosa-Polycystinea-Acantharea-Taxopodid
a). On the other hand, a number of distinct phyla will have to be added, like ma
ny old lineages in kingdom Fungida, Malawimonadozoa in kingdom Excavatida, Picoz
oa in kingdom Corticatida, and isolated groups like Diphyllatia and Breviatozoa.
<br>
The kingdoms follow <b>Luketa (2012)</b>.</span><br>
