Program Description:
The objective of this program are:
to support future leaders in Biodiversity Conservation and Natural Resources
Management in attaining higher post-graduate degrees from U.S. and Indonesian
institutions offering accredited programs in Environmental Science, Policy, and
Resources Management.
to equip individuals from the Indonesian government, private sectors, business
associations, research centers, civil society organization, and universities with
professional-level human resource and educational knowledge needed to carry out
their duties in the field of economics or related fields in agriculture.
Master Degrees will focus on the following areas:
1) Water and Sanitation
2) Sustainable Forest Management, Agro-forestry and Community Forestry
3) Marine and Coastal Zone Management
4) Agribusiness, Agricultural Economics and Agricultural Biotechnology Policy
5) Public Policy
General requirements:
Indonesian citizens. No dual citizenship
People from disadvantage area and from regions where USAID projects are located
will have a priority
Female and disabled (different abilities) candidates are strongly encouraged to apply
Minimum two years working experience in the same field with the proposed of
study
Candidates should have a minimum of ten years remaining prior to retirement to
apply their new knowledge after completing their degrees
No prior master degree
Minimum GPA of 2.75
U.S. government employees, contractor staff and employees whose salary is directly
paid by U.S. government are not eligible to apply.
Target Participants:
Eligible candidates may come from the Ministry of Forestry, Ministry of
Environment, Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries (including provincial and

district marine and fisheries agency), National Planning Agency (BAPPENAS),


Indonesia Institute of Science (LIPI), Ministry of Home Affairs (KEMENDAGRI),
Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, National Power Company (PLN), Water
and Sanitation Professionals/Environment Engineers working in development sector
with international or local organizations or related Government institutions, Ministry
of Agriculture, Coordination Ministry for Economic Affairs, BioSafety Commission,
civil society groups (universities, NGOs and Foundations), and professionals working
in the development sector with international or local organizations who have strong
potential for leadership (*see notes below).

Every attempt will be made to balance candidate selection across considerations of


gender,
geography,
and
public
and
private
sector
employment
background/affiliation.

Special Qualifications:
Must have completed a bachelors degree from an accredited university at the time
of application.

Prior training and work experience in:

Reducing Deforestation, Peat Forest Conservation, Sustainable Forest


Management, Sustainable Agriculture/Agro-forestry, and Biodiversity
Conservation Management.
Marine Conservation, Sustainable Fisheries Management, Integrated Coastal
Zone Management, Marine Spatial Planning, and Marine Biotechnology in
Indonesia.
Water and Sanitation or related fields. Specific preferred areas of prior work
experience include, but are not limited to:
o Water supply and treatment
o Sanitation services (domestic wastewater management and treatment)
Climate Change adaptation and greenhouse gas mitigation or related fields.

Priority will be given to candidates from Eastern Indonesia preferably from NTB,
NTT, Maluku, Papua and Flores.

others to contribute toward the effectiveness and success of an organization or technical
field in which they are members.
