2.0 PRIMARY EDUCATION


Primary Education is a seven year education cycle after PrePrimary. It is universal and compulsory to all children aged 7 to 13
years.
The primary school cycle begins with standard one (Std I), on entry,
and ends with standard seven (Std VII) in the final year.
Std VII examination is a Primary School Leaving Examination
(PSLE), marking completion of the primary education cycle. PSLE
is used for selection of students into secondary education.
SUBMISSION STATUS OF ANNUAL STATISTICAL DATA FOR
PRIMARY SCHOOL/STREAMS
In 2013, a total of 163 (100%) District Councils submitted Annual
Statistical Data for Government primary schools, while submission
for Non-Government Primary schools was only 104 (63.8%) District
Councils.
