Power-assisted ergonomics:

Lifting column system LegaDrive

Lifting column system LegaDrive:

just your level

The healthier, more efficient way to work not a problem

when theres electrical assistance from LegaDrive!
Studies show: ergonomic workplaces with the option of
sitting/ standing reduce or avoid back complaints and enhance work performance. Sickness-related absenteeism in
the office is significantly reduced. For first-class solutions,
theres now the electrical adjustable lifting column system
LegaDrive. It brings even more convenience, versatility and
safety to height-adjust-able desks.
The double-telescoping column provides maximum stability,
lifting power and lifting range. The drive system starts up
particularly gently, is overload-protected and comes with
collision detection. LegaDrive manages without additional
cross members. Fully integrated components give you the
maximum design flexibility.

Simply ergonomic
LegaDrive system takes the desk top to the chosen height
simply at the push of a button. With infinite variability.
Quickly and easily allowing the user to find the ideal
working position at the desk whether sitting or standing.
Impressive: the powerful yet pleasantly quiet lifting movement and huge lifting range.
The columns design blends harmoniously into modern
work environments and comes in three surface finishes.
As LegaDrive needs no cross member, a mobile pedestal
easily fits under the desk. LegaDrives large lifting range
also impresses in conjunction with high-rise pedestals:
storage space remains easily accessible even in the standing work position.

Hettich and the environment: committed to responsible practice,

active protection, innovative thinking

Hettich accepts responsibility for the world we live in. This

awareness defines the strict policy of environmental management we practise. Our environmental officer has taken
personal responsibility for these aspects throughout the
group of companies over a period of many years. In addition,
a separate environment committee has been established
for each production site. We regard statutory provisions as
minimum requirements. At significant sites we also implement the stringent EMAS regulation. And we drive forward
developments that in future will help to save even more raw
materials and support the necessary endeavours towards
sustainability.
Hettich standard for product materials
Hettich underpins its commitment by applying an internal
standard for product materials. This ensures that every product from production to disposal satisfies all environmental requirements. Hettich products are durable. Appropriately
foresighted, our rigorous standards are formulated to ensure
that international legislation is met as well. This provides a
reliable basis for marketing furniture world-wide.

Hettich environmental management

In 1996 Hettich started introducing effective environmental
management systems under the stringent EMAS Regulation
(currently: EC Regulation No. 761/2001, EN ISO 14.001/2004).
This not only enables us to improve our environmental performance on a broad front but also achieve a high level of
safety which, not least, also benefits our customers. This
is why we also require our suppliers to meet the necessary
minimum standards of environmental protection, industrial
safety, health care and social welfare. The results achieved
in the drawer-runner and drawer-system product segment
at the Kirchlengern operation illustrate the impressive
effects these measures have and verifiably demonstrate
our tireless endeavours to translate words into action:
Relief to the environment between 1997 and 2008:
Specific water consumption: 56 per cent
Specific power consumption: 21 per cent
Specific heat consumption: 84 per cent
Specific CO2 emissions:
29 per cent

Lifting column system LegaDrive:

quality that meets all the demands
Hettich undertakes to perform quality checks on the
LegaDrive lifting column system at every stage of production. This also includes taking account of the varying quality
standards demanded by different markets and segments.

Lifting column endurance test

Desk endurance test

Supporting a load of 80 kg, the lifting column is moved up

and down in cyclical fashion. Among other conditions, this
test is also conducted at temperatures from 5 to 40 C
and relative air humidity of 5 to 85 %.

Installed in a desk carrying a load of 120 kg (load contains

weight of desktop and desk frame), the lifting column is
moved up and down in cyclical fashion. This test is also
performed under climatic conditions.

The following European harmonised standards were also
applied:

EN ISO 12100 Safety of Machinery
General principles for design, risk assessment and risk
reduction (2010)

EN 349 Safety of machinery
Minimum gaps to avoid crushing of parts of the human body
(1993+A1, 2008)

2. In addition to the standards and directives that need to be

met for the EC Declaration of Incorporation, the LegaDrive
system complies with the following standards, regulations and
limit values:
DIN EN ISO 13849-1 Category B, Performance Level b (2006)
2002/95/EC RoHS in accordance with directive
REACH under Regulation (EC) No. 1907/2006

DMF (dimethyl fumarates) under the decision of the EU
Commission from 17.03.2009
3. The LegaDrive System possesses comprehensive DGUV
certification.
4. LegaDrive lifting columns undergo 100% testing after
production.
5. The LegaDrive system has a low standby consumption of 0.3
W; optionally, components are also available with a standby
consumption of 0.1 W.
6. In manufacturing the systems components, attention is paid
to minimising the use of resources needed in production
(energy in particular).
7. Importance is attached to selecting materials that can be
recycled to the greatest possible extent at the end of the
systems life.
8. The LegaDrive System undergoes rigorous endurance testing
to make sure it provides many years of reliable operation, also
under climatic conditions with temperatures ranging from
5 to 40 C and relative humidity from 5 to 85 %.
