PLANNING OF A WEBSITE

1. Topic: Means of transport

Introduction

 How do you come to school everyday?

 Where do you live?
 What are land transports?

2. Teaching approach
 I will use behaviorist approach to teach facts, asking questions like: -
What is your favorite transport?
 Cognitive approach: I will use ‘how” ie. How was your journey by
bus?
 Constructivist approach: I will use “why” which means to develop
learners to the higher of level thinking that promotes personal
meaning in a situated contextual learning environment e.g. why the air
transport is so expensive than the land transport?
3. Analysis phase

Learners
I am going to teach grade 4 learners. Disadvantaged learners coming from
different backgrounds. I will consider their prior knowledge, skills &
abilities they have before designing a lesson.i.e. From known –unknown/
simple-complex.
The activity must be fruitful, interesting & motivating. The material should
correspond with their level, resources like computer, type writer, phones
with internet etc. They have basics in computer because there is computer
lab at school &we are teaching them.

Context: In my teaching I will consider the background of learners.

SCREEN 2

Ask the class to name all the things that they can think
of that help us to move from one place to another.
(Let them use their home language if they do not know
the English words.)Explain that our means of traveling
(buses, cars. horses, bicycles etc.) are called transport.
Give each group some pictures of means of transport,
and some old magazines. Ask them to look through the
magazines and cut out pictures of things that can be
used for transport. Each group should stick all the
transport pictures they find onto a large sheet of paper.
Go around asking: what is it?

A member of each group presents the group’s poster.

She tries to name (in any language) the vehicle and the
other means of transport her group has found. Write all
the names that come up on the board. Add the English
names if learners have given home language names. The
groups can then write the name of each thing used for
transport under the pictures on their

5. Development
 The teacher should prepare the material/resources before and budget
for it.
 Learners can learn through instruction, with the help of a teacher
when they are writing, editing, using graphics, videos ect. in a
computer.
 By doing the above activities they develop typing , computer , reading
communication, writing skills
 They can create website when they are fully developed using
computer.
 They can produce what they have learned by using computer

 Learners develop knowledge, skills, values and attitudes.

Learners are demonstrating, following the instruction to develop their own

activity using computers.

6. Implimentation and evaluation

Implementation and evaluation are interacting so closely so you can’t

separate one another. Everything we do need improvement

 Organize enough resources for that particular topic.

 Explain the purpose of the topic.
 Learners must know the criteria before doing their work.
 Be realist & fair when assessing learners.
 Learners learn what they were intended to learn.
 Outcomes were met.
 The website that was created was not perfect they need
improvement& evaluated for effectiveness.
 Learners must be motivated.
 The lesson was fruitful. & enjoyable.
 Feedback and recommendation was given
