Learning Experiences: I read a story about a sneaky snake that eats the
class, then a girl caught the snake in action and released all her class
and the teacher and another random child.
1. Introduction: (How will I engage the learners?)
All the children sit on the mat
Introduce the story we are going to read (Class two at the zoo)
Ask the children about their experience at the zoo, what their favourite animals
were, what they liked about the animal (hands up)
Lesson Evaluation:
(Reflect on the lesson. What worked? What did not work? What would you change?
Why?)
At the Start oft he Session i asked questions about the Zoo, I went around the class and asked
what their faviourite animal at the zoo was when i asked a child he didnt want to answer so I gave
him a couple of minutes to answer and didnt so I moved on, When I moved on the child got really
upset he didnt get so share his answer so I let him try again. He shared his faviourite animal and
we moved on but he was still really upset, i tired to calm him down but he didnt want to listen so I
left him (still crying) and continued the book. I wish I had stopped and gone to the child, sat next
to him and offered if he wanted some time away to grab a drink/blow his nose/wash his face etc.
in my feedback the teacher did say it was okay to stop a lesson to support a child but I found it
hard to support him aswel as supporting all the other children in their learning while catering to
the distressed child. I would change the lessson to support the child first then move back to the
book, the children come first in this instance and not the lesson objectives which i struggled with
for my first lesson but I now understand and will do in the future.
The group discssuon worked really well as i identidyed the correct mat manner the students
should be using (legs crossed, hands up, hands to yourslelf etc) so that helped when asking
questions as the students were aware of the mat manners they should be using and the class
flowed well.
